Good grief.

It certainly makes sober reading, particularly when we read it knowing the outcome. I'm thinking "That's a perfectly good aircraft yet within 10 minutes everyone on board will be dead".

When we were in the UK we used to watch Air Crash Investigations on Sky. Most of them were totally blood curdling but what is really impressive is that all authorities involved in a given crash seem to spare no effort in finding out what happened, why it happened & trying to prevent it from happening again. Some of the lengths that they go to are quite remarkable.

We're seeing it all again of course with MH370 which has got to be the biggest mystery for decades. Hopefully within the next few days or weeks they'll locate & recover the data boxes & then hopefully be able to shed some light on that tragedy.

I'm not a particularly good flier which is a shame as I fly ~ 20 times a year! What was heartening, to me, during the early days of MH370 was when an expert was asked if the loss of the flight could have been due to catastrophic loss of a wing / tail etc. He was utterly resolute and said that with modern aircraft that simply does not happen and he refused to accept that it was even a possible cause.
