You are thinking of audio endpoint inside the DSP ?

No. But you don't put 2x the DSP power into a product if you don't intend to ultimately do something with it.

Built in stand alone room/low bass DSP correction for the speakers, a USB port to manipulate the correction via a laptop and a mic input...?

Thanks Ian to clear out my "timing" speculation smile

Hopefully of more use than expansion ports... wink

As VK says, put it on the question list for 1 May.

(Room correction wouldn't do processor sales any good.)

The new MIPs are in use. Probably all of them. They're necessary for the new DSP and DAC system to work.

I did not know that. I thought that the main difference between 8k and 8kSL (apart from the SL, obviously) was revised buffering. Do you have any figures for the respective MIPs?

Strictly, the 8ks got more MIPS (vs. 8000.1) when they went SL, which is why EBA is not possible with the 8000.1s. The SEs have double the number of DSP chips = twice the MIPS of the 8000.2s though, as previously discussed, one of these chips is completely dedicated to DAC management.

Do you know what the MIPS were used for? And what are the respective figures for the 8k and 8kSL?

The answers to those questions are into the IP area I think. Richard wouldn't be drawn any further... understandably so.

You don't work for Linn do you ? wink

OK, but what about the increase in MIPS from 8k to 8kSL that Ludwig mentioned. What were they for?

Richard's statement that the doubling of MIPS for the SEs to be used to manage DACS is a helpful answer and he obviously did not feel that such an answer endangered IP.

If the MIPS changed from 8k to 8kSL then we would expect a significant change in performance. This is not something that users have identified.
