Well the argument about file/HD size issues has waned somewhat with the advent of the non proprietary storage (though I hesitate to mention it). Notwithstanding HQ's view on 96 vs higher, there's a market out there that thinks biggest is best. They may have done some work to keep NY (Pono) onboard, or was that why it fell down?

This is inevitable IMHO - as I've posted before. The world has moved on from 24/96 regardless of what we all might think about SQ above this level of sampling.

Sorry if this is not the topic - just following on from the subtle hints dropped by a couple of senior members in this thread!

Two subtle hints, nope. I see one tongue in check comment from Nick. As for VK's comment on wider analogue bandwidth, let's not forget that 96/24 is considered hi-res.

But why let facts put a dampener on wild wishful speculation. I just knew Jon's comment would spark a raft of this again.

Would I like M to support 192K, yep, not because I think it would improve SQ but it would stop (for a little while at least) the naysayers complaining about the lack of it and more importantly Meridian might sell a few more units in the Market. Which of course is good for all of us.

Happy Days,
Carl

Sorry blush

Actually this was not the point I was getting at.

Gushing is right! I am sure that will prompt more than a few upgrades/sales! Must say, like the color of the 8's. Will be interesting to hear how the whole SE lineup sounds. Which represent the biggest change/upgrade? Am I correct in assuming that its been a while since the 8's have seen an update?

It was a great review, they are learning to market to a more upmarket crowd (simpler message, updated comps) but $80K/pair is rarified air...anyway, see you in NYC!

Interesting that it was the reviewer's first listen to a DSP system. That means he was not distracted by any comparison to pre-SE models.

The room looked pretty big so it must have suited the 8kSE very well.

Are those the same blue pair that did the rounds in the UK I wonder ?

Along these same lines, are the DSPs on display in the US roadshow now considered final production spec or is there still room for improvement? I realize customers have already purchased and received theirs. I seem to recall that a few recent SE demos were still done with pre-production models.
