I crank my DSP6000's up, trying to get as close to 0 dBfs at a volume setting of 87 (unity gain) and they go very loud indeed if running near there.
The speakers can deliver 107-110dB at a 3m listening position.
I have never seen a clipping light or a shut down on mine.
If you go further than 87 on any Meridian speaker you can get digital clipping on peaks , which is horrible sounding.

I think this is a curious, one off thread. When I've looked through this forum for 6ks comments I've found 95% unequivocal recommendations. I've bought them and been much more than happy.

5ks 1k, 5k2 3k, 6ks 4k, 7200.2 10k, 8k 15. 6ks stand out distinctly on this diminishing return curve, all IMHO.

DSP use a hybrid analogue and digital volume control. Are you certain that above 87 they will produce clipping ?

That is not my understanding.

If the signal at 87 is close to 0 dBfs - then if the DSP6000's apply any digital gain thereafter - you could get digital clipping. If all the gain in the DSP6000's is analog after 87, you wouldn't.

You forgot 5500s; 1,500. I know not everyone gets on with them but if you do they are terrific value as well.
