I set the back up running to a USB drive attached to my iMac, but it keeps stopping with no warning after a couple of dozen albums. I then have to run the Back up wizard again to start the process running but it's going to take a long time to complete the whole process.
Not sure where to look on the debug panel to find out what's going on.
In the meantime Sooloos is merrily playing tracks so it's not the programme crashing.
Sooloos, Roon, G series (with LPS upgrade), 800 series (with LPS upgrade), HD621, AC200, Prime and PS, DSPs old and new.
Not the same (..), I see a different behavior, running Control:PC my back up shows always more albums than I actually ripped fresh out of the jewelcase. E.g. I ripped 14 CD's yesterday in 2 sessions of 5 and 9, both backed up immediately after each session and the first back up showed 18 and the second one showed 28. Seems to backup ok for the rest.

Not sure that this is what you're seeing, dpstjp but I've never been able to complete a backup. The Backup Wizards always stops with "Unknown Error". I can restart the Backup wizard and then it will stop at some other point until there are one or two albums left.
Everything (MD600, laptop with Control:Mac) is hardwired into the same router, with no wireless involved in the backup. Backup destination is a hard drive built into the router (Airport Time Capsule).
I suspect there is one album that's throwing a wrench into things. Running the Library Interrogator (hoping that this will uncover data inconsistencies or corruption) is on my list but that involves getting a copy of Windows, setting up a VM with Virtualbox or something similar. Too much of a yak shaving exercise at the moment.
It's probably happening when the computer is going into a lower energy mode. Control:Mac doesn't seem able to manage Mac (or Control:PC, I'd wager) energy modes. You can solve this by temporarily setting your Mac to not go to sleep.
I would suggest you make sure your computer, backup destination and Sooloos are all connected to your network via wire. I had the same problems the OP had until I attached my computer to the network. The back up will run faster too.

Do you have other backups running to the Time Capsule such as time machine? Depending on the vintage of your TC unit, they have been known to overheat. Perhaps try another backup destination. I had a TC that lasted about four years and gave up the ghost (and my backups) without warning. I keep my Sooloos backup on its own NAS. I have another NAS for network storage and the (new) TC is used only for Time Machine backups.

Thanks for asking. I don't use the TC for anything else. In fact I bought it for the sole purpose of doing Sooloos backups while I research what NAS to get.
Have you tried doing a forensic focus (select focus then the * to get the menu) and looking for corrupt media, if you find any you could exclude them from the backup and try again?
