If the text is left justified, without any upgrade signature they are most probably 18 bit. If text is centre justified they are almost certainly 96/24 versions.

A 562 will accommodate all your analogue (and digital) sources.
In an 18-bit 2.0 system I would go 562Vx. Sell the 541 (which won't act as controller for DSPs) and you'll be quids (or dollars) in. Plug everything direct to the 562 and it will act as your ADC (which you'd need anyway with DSPs) and give you comms.
A 568 would be even better for not that much more of an outlay.

There will probably be two serial numbers on back of the 5000's, often one is in the acoustic port. One is for cabinet, one for electronics.
As a general rule of thumb, if either of the serial numbers starts with a 2 or 3, they will be 96/24.
If one starts with 1 and the other starts with 2, they are probably 18bitters upgraded to 96/24 electronics.

You don't need a pre with DSP5000's
You say all your sources can be handled by the M1 CLIC which is a pre - all you need is an AD converter from the M1 to the speakers. You can get some sterling AD's in the pro audio domain for very little money.
You will need to get a 24/48 capable AD for 18 bit 5k's as they wont take a 24/96 signal - 24/96 is fine for the 24/96 speakers.
You would not use the vol control of the M1 , you would need to set it to full volume - you will control volume , tone , balance etc via the speakers
Thing is , you will be doing a double conversion with any digital sources you input into the M1 (Da and then AD and then the speakers DA), it might be worth it to try input any critical quality digital sources directly into D1 of the speakers and input the AD'ed M1 into D2

Hector OK, text on the back is left jutified and both serial numbers on the back start with 1. Looks like an early 18 bit pair, then?

See my post 209062, above. I think the suggestion to get a Meridian preamp was made so that its A/D functions could be used to drive the DSP5000.

Thanks to all who suggested getting a Meridian processor in order to drive the DSP5000s.
I'll have a look at the used marketplace and see if the Meridian option is cheaper than just getting a good stand alone A/D converter.

I just bought a G91 and put in a new PS and CD ROM drive for around 350 quid, it's also a Pre, AD, DAC, Tuner, etc. and would be more than adequate to drive 5000's or any DSP speakers.
I bought a 568.2mm for the same price and it too is ideal .. does a bit more than the G91.

Here in the US G91s, indeed most of the G series components, are not cheap. The 5 series controllers are more budget friendly.
I will keep looking to see what is available in the second hand marketplace.

In NYC, Stereo Exchange often has used Meridian equipment for sale, sometimes they list it on audiogon. They are a former dealer of M. equipment, not current. I agree that sometimes 5 series processors do sell for really low prices.
I bought my first Meridian processor (G68) for just under $3K and felt I got a great deal, now there is a G68 listed on audiogon for $2,100. Weinhart design in LA has a well-kitted out 861v4 for just above $4,000.

Yes I know about Stereo Exchange, have bought many items from them in the past. In the last few years they have changed how they handle second hand sales; now second hand stock is listed on eBay.
