NeilF,

I too have noticed on a few occasions that metadata can't be found when importing, and have assumed that the metadata service (presumably somehow linked via the Sooloos servers) is down for whatever reason. As you've found, if you leave it for a couple of hours, it's usually back up and running.

A bit annoying at the time (and causes a bit of head scratching the first time it happens - as you say, you start trying other CDs and wonder if your system is at fault), so it pays to have something else to do instead and leaving the importing for later!

Importing for the first time in ages and have had to type out the first two imports manually as the discs are not recognized.

Fair enough they are a bit obscure but tried one it should know and no luck either, so it looks like it isn't working today.

Yes, I just tried to import 2 Eno CD's from the 70's and the lookup failed. Hopefully they are busy rolling out an updated service ...

laugh Just my luck. I wanted to do some testing on this so I pulled up a random album and pushed the dreaded Update Metadata button thinking, what harm could it possibly do? Of course it messed up the album's data. So, the metadata service "works" in that it returns data. It's just data that I now manually have to remove.

Yes, my 2 new CDs imported OK. I guess the service is working again.

With drag and drop, it's finding metadata for a good portion of albums. Still doesn't appear to work with manual entry of AMG ID.

Cheers, Ian
