Hi Everyone,
This is my first post here, I am hoping I can find what is needed to help mend one of my 557�s its demise started with fizz, pops, and strange rustling from one of the speakers (good way of making me jump out of my skin!).
Anyway the amp has now stopped looking inside there are a few burnt out components in one corner, I have spoken to Meridian they are sending me a good copy of the schematic for the 557 via email in the next few days for my local electrical engineer.
Upgrading the power amps capacitors has been on my mind for a while along with Op amps, and loudspeaker terminals, are there other components I should consider?
So what I need from you guys is a shopping list of components including relevant values.
Coming from Quad 405 amps years ago I know what difference decent component can make, back then DHC Slit foil caps were rated very highly if not the best I don�t know how they rate nowadays, ideas please.
I look forward to your suggestions etc.

Update.
Two amps are back after extensive up grades third should be back this Saturday morning, I got them done locally to me (Plymouth) as I've not had much luck with couriers in the past and a good friend took on the challenge which he has passed with flying colours.
After firing them up the first impression is how clean and tight the sound is, the more I listen the more amazed I am, instruments and vocals are separated and focused and the 557 now have foot tapping Rhythm which they were lacking before.
I knew these amps have potential just needed modernising.
