I'm trying to use Amarra on my Macbook Pro to listen to music. What are my options to get analogue from the Mac via the mini plug into my 861?

Your 861v6 has analogue inputs so it just a case of cabling and Mconfig.
However, why analog why not use a digital connection?

I have a mini to dual RCA cable. Do they make mini to single RCA that carries both channels? A Macbook Pro doesn't have digital out that I am aware of.

I thought they had HDMI out, that could be connected to the HD621. Or use a USB to SPDIF adaptor.
Whist the analog output of the MBP is ok, a digital connection should get better results.

You might try the Halide Bridge. A lot of people on here stopped there on the way to MDMS and I continue to use in addition to my Sooloos. There are other similar devices which also provide asynchronous transfer of the data like the Halide.

MacBook Pro should have a digital out, it depends on model of course. It may be masquerading as a headphone jack. See: OS X Mavericks: Audio ports.

I believe all MacBook Pros since 2006 have digital output using a combined analogue/digital 3.5mm plug. It is optical though, so assuming you have a TOSLINK optical input, a 3.5mm to TOSLINK cable or a cable with adaptor such as the Belkin Digital Optical Audio Cable with 3.5mm Adapter (2m) would do it. I think later MacBook Pros go to 94/24 on the optical output, but earlier models may only go to 44.1/16 or possibly 48/24 (I don't know). (Probably not what you want if using Amarra, but if you were happy being fixed at 44.1/16 or 48/16 then AirPort Express or Apple TV respectively may be worth a look as a wireless solution.)
priorities: stereo music (primarily 'classical' / choral / opera) boxes: various 500-series, DACs, G91 (+ non-M e.g. ELS-63)

Headphone jack also runs in optical mode.
I've only used it couple of times (MBP to F80 via optical) and dont recall having to alter any settings.

That is exactly the kind of adapter that I need. I was looking for an RCA type connector but toslink is the way to go. I have moved recently and I can't locate all of my CD's but most are loaded on my Mac.
Thanks
