Another successful change to 4TB drives here. I just put the same Seagate ST4000DM000 4TB drives in one of my TwinStores with all working fine.
BIG thanks to Chi for posting this info here for us!
The drives took about 10 minutes to format in my TwinStore. The only problem I had was my restore crashed after loading about 3400 discs with a message of no more drive space available. I rebooted and the rest of my discs loaded fine, there must be some logic based on the TwinStore having smaller drives and it needed a reboot to measure the actual available drive space remaining.
It will be interesting to see the reliability of these drives in the TwinStore. I will for sure keep a current backup and of course keep all posed here if any problems show up.

Imagine doing a full backup and restore for 16TB worth of music, it would take over a month!
The backup and restore I just did (about 2.3T) took just under a week. I was using my 10 year old laptop, so I'm sure this could be reduced with some newer computer equipment.

This may seem a stupid question but if you want to upgrade hard drive sizes in a TwinStore, do you need to back up to a third drive first, then insert new drives and restore or can you fit one new drive which is mirrored, then Fit the second?
Planning ahead, you would require three drives of the new larger capacity to cover all future back up options. As a new TwinStore owner, I need to understand this.
Thanks, Chris
No 18 in the Hall of fame I have simple tastes; I am content to settle for the best: GIK monster bass panels, rear wall. QNAP TVS 471i3. Roon into DSP5200SE via 210/ 218 zone... Explorer 2. Bluesound Pulse 2, Mini & Flex. 596v1, 518, Foxsat HD, Sony BDP, Pioneer 5090, 2 Chromecast's for LRB videos. MS200 to F80 for a Roon zone
I am sure you will find the two drive capacities have to be identical, the manufacturer can be different but not the capacity, so I am afraid it is the following steps:
1: Full backup
2: Remove existing disks, do not format just incase you have issues with the next steps!
3: Fit new drives and wait for the TwinStore to format them.
4: Restore your backup.
5: Verify the library works?
Good Luck
Russ
PS: I just restored a large library onto a QNAP NAS, it worked perfectly.
I thought that might be the case - sigh! The following may be impossible, given how RAID arrays work (I'm sure someone will say).
It would be really nice if you could pop out one of the x TB drives and replace it with an x+n TB drive. If the store would temporarily ignore the n TB on the new drive and replicate the x TB drive, then recognize the additional n TB when the first drive is replaced with another x+n TB, the drive upgrading would be pretty painless.

As an update, my new TwinStore happily formatted a pair of Seagate ST4000VN000 4TB SATA III NAS drives. Showing as Storage 3938007MB and Free space of 3936927MB.
Now all I have to do is restore my back up of the music from my MD600, swap drives over between the two and ship the TwinStore off to the IoW.
