AC200 has the wall wart. No problem powering the MS200 via SL from the AC200, it's what happens when I connect the MS200 to the Prime PS and the AC200 via SL that I'd like clarity on. I won't be able to test this using the PPS only until I get another 12V lead.

Sufficient SL powersupply for MS200 is only possible from AC200, DSP3200 and M6. (Maybe that the new DSP series are able?)
I was hoping that the SL from my DSP7200.2 would be powerfull enough but it drops out, if it would yes then I wouldn't worry about contemplating a new external PS. It does mean that it gets energy from both SL and external PS, I don't think there is an intelligent switch on board.
I am surprised that a better PS could potentially impact the SQ positively when linked with SL as that is fully digital. The 8xxx series proved it.

How do you know it was SL power supply that was causing drop outs?
I ran MS200 from 5200 SL power with no issue. I am surprised if 7200.2 SL was not able to achieve the same.

Hi, well, when connected only by SL then the MS200 connects but soon after I start the Core Control and play music then it drops out, not immediate but it will. When I have it powered by the walwart then it works flawless. I think you were lucky it did work on your 5.2K, but it is not guaranteed. Ask your dealer. This was also mentioned in earlier posts, when the MS200 was introduced. Would the noise and ripples from the walwart SMP also pollute the clean power of the DSP, that is what I start wondering. And if I would use a clean PS, would it therefore have a double effect. Great anyhow that even M now has options to patch some snakeoil on Cheers

Is it possible and if so? Has anybody tried using the prime power supply to run a MC200?
Kind regards David

Not possible, the MC200 has very different PSU requirements.
The Prime PSU, I think it is fair to say that it has been designed for ultra low noise to feed a clean power into delicate audio equipment like DACs and low power amps, which is a different application to the MC200.
The MC200 is more akin to a PC it requires a different spec of PSU also being quite a noisy environment I suspect having a cleaner PSU may not yield worthwhile results.
The better solution to improve the MC200's AQ is to use an external audio endpoint like the MS200 etc.

I've been advised that the best way to power the MS200 in combination with an AC200 and PPS is via SpeakerLink from the AC200.
It rather begs the question of what other 12V outlets are for? I do wonder whether it would power an MPMAX221 (aside from the USB power connection) for one?
I've been testing the unit with the Halide Bridge today. Not convinced there's a noticeable improvement in sound quality. Not sure why, but I wasn't expecting the Bridge to work when hooked up to the PSU but whilst the PSU was switched off.
I'll try the same set up and MS200 when my next Reviver arrives later on this week.

Seems like whatever they have in store, it's not close, given that CES has come and gone. With CES being the optimal launch platform for small electronics. I was thinking it might be for Pono?

There are lots of small devices you could power from it, including perhaps Pono, if it ever launches. Pono is, however, a company owned (as far as I can tell) by Neil Young. I don't think anyone ever said Pono is a Meridian product. So powering a Pono player from a Prime PSU would be just like powering the awesome-looking Sony ZX-1 hi-res Walkman from it.

Hi, I've moved the subsequent discussion on Pono to the Pono thread. Regards, Carl

I've been informed that spare 12V power cables will not be available for the Prime PSU. If the one supplied gets damaged you're on your own. Also rather defeats the point of having 5 outputs, but there you go.
Fortunately I have been provided with the pin-out diagram for the cable (now on Duncs' site) so anyone with a soldering iron and a steady hand can make their own.
The benefit of this approach is they can make it in custom lengths (the one supplied is quite short), custom cabling or with different plugs for units that take 12V but with different polarity or plug size.
