I run W7 in Parallels on my MBP and can't get my Seagate Backup Plus USB drive recognized by Control:PC to run the backup wizard. Actually, I can't even find the backup drive in W7 like I previously did in XP. I know XP OK but I don't know much about W7. I reformatted the Seagate but still no luck.
Last night I started a backup with Control:Mac but it quit partially thru the process. I really don't trust Control:Mac for backups.
Can anyone help?

Hi
Is there a special reason why you dont you use Control:Mac to do you backup?
It works pretty well.
If you want to do this with Parallels and W7:
First question: does Parallels see the USB drive?
It should be visible at the bottom of Parallels under USB devices.
If it is not visible there could be two reasons:
a) You formatted the drive under Mac OSX which is not compatible with Windows.
b) You have not selected the drive as a active USB device under Parallels.

Hello Peter Thanks for the response
The drive is formatted NTFS
Not sure if Parallels sees the drive but when I go to Computer in W7 it's not there.(Can't check because I'm backing up via Contro:Mac.
Shouldn't W7 make it active when I plug it into a USB port?
I really want to use Control:PC because Sooloos is so Windows centric...
Actually, is there any difference between a Control:Mac and Control:PC backup? I'm using Control:Mac to backup to an NTFS formatted drive so I'm thinking there is no difference.

Sooloos is so Windows centric Not sure what you base that on. They supply Control:Mac and Control:Windows. I'm using an iPad for controlling my Sooloos system. The Meridian Sooloos Configure app IS windows only but thats about it. I'd stick with Control:Mac if I was you. Cheers Greg

Hi,
As far as I know there is no difference between a backup made with Control:PC and Control:Mac.
Windows 7 can only see the drive if you have enabled that drive in Parallels.
In Parallels you can go to the menu item Devices then choose external devices and you should see your USB drive, select it and now it should be visible to W7.
Regards
