Finally, I got all the gear on Wednesday! I have managed to put everything together, and the Meridian Configuration was a steep learning curve but I think I now got the hang of it. It is a bit bright at the moment, but I haven't done any calibration or MRC yet so that I am sure will become better when that's all set up properly.

However, I encounter a problem. I have set the left DSP5200 as Master, but the 5200HC centre remains as a Master. When I try to set the Centre as Master, then the right goes off without any sounds.

The main problem is the volume syncing doesn't work with the two masters and the centre channel changes its volume according to the MSR. If I try to force the centre to N.Control then it won't even come off.

If anyone got any ideas where I have gone wrong that would be great.

Which speakers are plugged into which outputs on the v8?

When you set the master, you mean by configuring the speaker with the remote directly, right?

MConfig doesnt configure the speakers. You have to do that manually and then make MConfig match your actual configuration.

Ah, thanks. Silly me.

You have to take care to set the same master in your configfile as you are typwe with the MSR.
In both cases you get a red dot-in mconfig and i real live on the master DSP.
Set the V8 as controller in mconfig(not automatic).
After you have finished Mconfig, press(in standby) for 1-2 seconds the "clear" button on the MSR and point to the v8,
the display on the v8 have to go from xx to "controller" and on the master DSP from xx to "N.controller".

Okay, the speakers still doesn't like me. Now L&R doesn't wake up, nor is the SW.

I have set the Master to Centre, and slaves for both L & R. Speakers are all connected via SL onto the allocated slots as mapped.

I have used the MSR to match the Meridian Config.

If I set the Master to the Left speaker, I have all the speakers except the DSW.

Previously when all set to Master and interestingly the right speaker was also Left Master, everything works except the volume is not in sync.

The rears seems to be fine.

Maybe upload a picture from your smartphone of the cabling.

You are probably quite close, but comms is very unforgiving.

Is the controller in the same room as the speakers?

So decide one master-left or center and stay with it.
Disconnect all SL cables at DSP sides except the master DSP and DO what i have wrote in my last mail.Your SL cable have to be in the correct column(right column)
Your master DSP have to wake up and have to show the red light.
I assuming that all remaining speakers are slaves now:
Connect the sub, does it wake up and works audio wise ?
If that is working continue with one rear and then the next.
Dont forget that you have to do the "clear" every time after you add a DSP(in standby).
So the master DSP give a feedback to the slaves and then all DSP are synchronized.

I'll assume that you'd like to have the centre speaker as master.

There are three settings you need to make:

1) Set the centre speaker as master using the MSR, so it is the only speaker in your system with a red LED on it. (When in normal use, the red led also comes on slave speakers while configuring them)
2) Set the Centre as master in the Meridian Configuration program (so that has a red 'led' next to it) and upload to the 861V8.
3) The speakerlink cable from the centre speaker MUST go into the centre socket on the 861v8 that has a green stripe next to it.

I'm guessing 3) is the problem here.

Okay, I think I am almost there - I had the Centre on the slave side which was the problem. All the fronts are working, but the SW no longer works. I have it set to channel 2 and it is plugged in to SL2 next to the centre on the slave side.

Just saw this, and I will give it a try.
