Okay I will do as you say. The system is up and running and playing music as I write. For your information, the following is the result of today's deliberations.
Just had a long conversation with Russ on how my network is set up and although it's extensive it is still quite straightforward. Russ has also been through the installation screen shots and cannot see any issues with the way it has been installed. To clear up any confusion, the QNAP unit I am trying to install is an 859 not a 569 my apologies. I also have a QNAP 809 on the same network but this does not have the Meridian app installed. Thank you Russ for all your help it is most kind.
We did identify one unusual aspect to my network in that that I had my Core (Ensemble) in the house and my Store (TwinStore and now QNAP) in my office, which is about 75 metres from the house. To eliminate any issues with this long cable run, I have just switched the Core to a C10 I have in my office and which is on the same switch as my TwinStore. I have then re-positioned the QNAP so that it is also on the same switch. In other words, simplified the switch arrangements and eliminated the long cable run to house such that Core (now C10), TwinStore and QNAP 859 are now all on the same switch and within a few yards of each other.
I then got some strange results. The Core (C10) showed the following error message:
I rebooted the C10 and the error message disappeared.
The C10 is now showing the following information regarding the QNAP: (ie still "loading")
However, Control:PC is showing the following: (ie QNAP, which is 0089bc9f89c, is showing as "online")
Not sure whether to get out the cheque book or the sledgehammer or both, but at least music is still playing ...
I'll respond to Nick's points after I get the update from the Mothership. Not sure I understand what has happened here to get myself out of sync.

Nothing received yet in terms of automatic update. I assume I will get a message via my C10 but wasn't quite sure in the case of the QNAP Meridian apps. Have I somehow managed to use the wrong version of the app?

Normally with the links for Play, Import, backup, etc. you have a "message" one added. It goes away once acted upon. Another, Chris
No 18 in the Hall of fame I have simple tastes; I am content to settle for the best: GIK monster bass panels, rear wall. QNAP TVS 471i3. Roon into DSP5200SE via 210/ 218 zone... Explorer 2. Bluesound Pulse 2, Mini & Flex. 596v1, 518, Foxsat HD, Sony BDP, Pioneer 5090, 2 Chromecast's for LRB videos. MS200 to F80 for a Roon zone
I find a re-boot of the core sometimes prompts an update message when there is one to be had. So rather than wait for a scheduled push the reboot triggers it.
It must be quite a sophisticated system if it can identify my system only by the specific nature of the problem I have posted on the forum. Perhaps that teleportation tweak isn't so mad after all!
