A great big Hurrah! from me for the reintroduction of the G55 (and the G57).
I had been contemplating a move to the Arcam AVR750 (and I had already privately auditioned the unit with a member of Arcam's own technical staff), but this changes everything. Totally agree Although most die hard M DSP fans will not looking to add a G55/G57 the option for people looking to get into the M electronics can find there feet and appeal to more fans. Just my 2p of course. Oh and the blue 8k is stunning! Kind regards David

I cannot believe I missed the G55 statement.. That is great, absolutely great. I knew it didn't make sense for them to advertise this product in their new instruction manuals... Prior discussion of G55... Based on M's website, their exactly the same. If I didn't know better, the photos on line are left over from the original issue. I cannot say enough about these amps.

While being still blown away with my current set up, now knowing it's "2nd best" having just dropped so much cash does smart a little. We all understand where you're coming from, but I'm sure you wouldn't rather they just hadn't bothered. And your gear will likely be upgradable (see Rick's comment above) should the sound difference be worth the price difference in your opinion.

How will the Special editions be different from the anniversary model? The main improvement will be the new beryllium domed tweeter, but also EBA. Rick

Surely EBA will be rolled out to all current SpeakerLink models and not just the special editions?

Yes indeed, EBA I understand will roll out to all current speakers, but the question was what's the difference between SE and Anniversary.
I read that as current specification Anniversary, which doesn't have EBA. So SE should certainly be better than a current Anniversary. (Better tweeter and also EBA)
I agree that the firmware could be updated in Anniversary (when available) to provide EBA so then main difference will just be the tweeters. I'm also pretty sure the tweeter, and associated crossover electronics, will be available for the Anniversary at some point, so a fully upgraded Anniversary and a DSP8000 SE should sound the same. or very close..

Any idea whether the 7200.2 tweeter is the same as the SE? That would be a little difficult to swallow were it not...

My guess is that the 8000.2 will be upgradable, but not 8000.1. Making an upgrade economic for both Meridian and customer is a case of taking one standard configuration and moving it on to another standard configuration. I think there is probably too much to change on an 8000.1 to make it economic, but only Meridian will know this.
Anniversary 8ks are a special case and, at their price, no doubt there will be special treatment for the lucky owners.
