Not so much a film as a TV series:
'Isabel', a Spanish RTE production, which follows the life of Queen Isabel to the throne of Spain. It has been playing on Sky Arts so may still be available in On Demand. If not seek it out. This is the kind of historical drama that the BBC did so well in the 1970s: brilliantly written, beautifully shot and great acting.
And if you like this then 'Gran Hotel', a kind of Miss Marple murder mystery set in a hotel in Santander, is also quality TV drama.
With the recent Scandinavian output (The Bridge, Borgen, The Killing, etc.), the French (Engrenages/Spiral) and now the Spanish contribution, I have to wonder what the BBC/ITV are doing. And all this material is superior (IMHO) to most contemporary Hollywood films.
In the spirit of Spinaltap, I would like to confirm that I am not involved in the corrupt theft of a global sport.

I very much enjoyed watching RUSH Beyond the Lighted Stage. A very enjoyable film about one of the biggest and most influencial rockbands. The bonus is that it contains some great music tracks. (It must be great hearing it via an M kit, better than my cheap Sony LCD and 50 euro Philips DVD player)

Once Upon A Time In Anatolia.
It's not for everyone (certainly not the popcorn crowd) & is a real slow-burner as it takes place almost in real time but it's a brilliant murder mystery unlike any I've ever seen. Beautifully filmed & is pure class.

I have just watched and listened to my Xmas gift from me to me (SWMBO gone shopping again!) Neil Young "Journeys" (A Jonathan Demme Picture) Wonderful. An insight into the life, world, music and values of this extraordinary creative talent. Warning! If you don't have a huge listening space or bass traps the size of bus shelters avoid Ambisonic. 2 more from me; one old, one pretty new. The Three Colours Trilogy; the French / Polish films which are just brilliant. Multi-layered, I just couldn't take me eyes off them. Tremendous. Untouchable. Not The Untouchables, this is the recent French film that gets rave reviews everywhere. The 2 leads are absolutely terrific, it's nicely shot, and the film is funny, moving, and the audio is just wonderful.

Now You See Me (2013) was a hugely entertaining movie to watch on my AppleTV last week, with an unexpected twist at its conclusion.
Not an Actor, nor married to Jamie-Lee Curtis.

American Hustle is vastly superior to Now You See Me, for that "con" style film.
Thanks, Edd

Do you mean "INtouchables"? Great movie. I understand that Intouchables is the original (French) title. Here in the UK it's called Untouchable. That's certainly what it's called on my Bluray!

Looking back I can't see it recommended on here but we watched Django Unchained last night. Utterly brilliant. The acting by the main players is of a sky-high standard and the quality of the writing is up there with the very best ever.
I think they must have forgotten to show it to the censors but other than that it's pretty much as good as film gets, and the audio is magnificent.
Masterpiece.
