I have bought a used Bryston 9BSST from a fellow HH.

He didn't do it but I would like to wire a Trigger from my G61R to the 9BSST.

It's not a straight forward mono plug - I am sure I have seen other HH with Bryston in their sig - hoping they can help me.

I have a Bryston 9B SST. It has two screw terminals on the back of the amp that require 4-12V AC or DC to trigger the amp. Polarity doesn't matter. If you don't have the terminal strip (it's a green plug into the back of the amp) Bryston should be able to send one to you. They did for me. The switches on the amp need to be set to enable the trigger. I can't remember the configuration off the top of my head, but Bryston's website has all of the manuals online.

Good Luck. It's a great amp.

If it's a removable green connector with screw terminals, they're usually made by Phoenix Contact.

What I have done so far didn't work.

I bought a mono 3.5mm to 3.5mm cable to wire my G61 to my G55 - that worked perfectly.

When I got the Bryston I lopped off one of the 3.5mm plugs.
I expected a 2 core cable but it's actually a 3 core.
Red
White
Yellow

Googling this - it suggest the red and white are left right and yellow is negative. Seemed sensible.

So I wired the Bryston plug - both red and white into one terminal and yellow into the other terminal.

And it didn't work!

B. In the Local setting of switch (4) the 9BSST will ignore the control voltage, and power up only by using the front panel ST POWER switch, or as in section 3 above. If a control voltage is present at the IN terminals it will still be available at the OUT terminals after the power-up sequence.
Can you confirm this is what you have done?

Yes this is what I did. I'm going to try again for good measure.

Do you have any kind of meter to check the cable you have? You can set it to measure ohms to determine which part of the connector goes to each wire. Or you could plug it into your G61, enable the trigger, and measure the voltage across the different wires. Because you have three wires, I'm guessing your connector is a TRS (Tip, Ring, Sleeve). You only need the tip and the sleeve connections for the trigger to work.

Regards,

Russ R

Or is it a mono plug (tip and sleeve only) which is rather oddly wired with 3 core cable? Either way you need to establish which wires are connected to tip and sleeve as Russ suggests. I assume the plugs are sealed units and cannot be opened to look. Could it be possible that the red and white wires are tip and sleeve and the yellow is not connected to anything at the jack plug end?
