Isn't there an option for the G68 to select manually from which physical input to receive the sound? Ie, when you play DVD audio from the six analog cables, when you play sacd from say the 2 analog ones etc??
The way you describe it and I also have connected the two together seems a little primitive to me, when a Yamaha DSP-A2 which is a 7-8 year model has the capability to do by pressing one button on the remote (external decoder)?
You simply connect the DVD digital audio & video to the Yamaha DVD inputs, and the six channel analog to the external decoder input. This way, when you play SACD/DVD-A, and press the external decoder button, you hear sound from the SACD/DVD-A and can still see any images or film that are on the disk..
