Howdie again.
May I ask where and how to plug my iPhone minijack to my 568 to hear my music? I don't think my 568 has a minijack, but I've seen a minijack-to-phonojack converters. Is the signal out of my iPhone analogue or digital?
Sorry for the newbie questions.

Analogue connection: use a minijack to 2x phono cable, and plug into the analogue input.
Digital connection: use an iPhone Dock with a digital output. There are several, Wadia, Onkyo and others make them.
Obviously you'll have to make sure your 568 is correctly configured for the input in question.

I have just tried 3.5mm mini jack x 2 RCA lead from an iPhone 5 into my G61. It was dreadful. To get any sound level at all, I needed to put the iPhone volume at max and then virtually the same on the G61. That was with the iPhone volume limiter (that we have in EU countries) switched off. The quality was dreadful though.
I think better results can be obtained by using a specialist lead from the lightning connector, or an Apple TV or Airport Express into an optical digital input, but I haven't tried it as I was only experimenting.

I initially did this with my F80. As jobseeker says, it can sound dreadful although maybe iPhones are now better than the old iPod classics? I tried it with an iPod dock so everything is done via the multiway connector at the bottom.
What I did find that made a huge difference was turning all EQ off in my iPod. It seemed to clip when on, although I think this may also have been made worse by the F80 width setting which I had to reduce. In the end, it was acceptable but I ended up using a music server system in the end.
Meridian did an i80 iPod dock for use with F80/M80 and the AC200 possibly others. It may be possible to utilise one of these although, tbh, digital out docks are now more common than they once were.
Meridian owner since 1992 Prime & PSU, Focal Elear headphones, Roon (ROCK 8Gi5 NUC), Explorer 1 & 2, F80. 200/203, various Sonos (via Roon).

Have you considered an Apple TV? Optical out straight into the 568. Plus all the other benefits of apps for Netflix etc on the unit. Anything in iTunes can be streamed through it including tv shows and photos.
I use one and find it acceptable. I do also store my music in the highest quality I can (or so I believe with apple lossless I think it is) it works vey well for me
Also price wise it's not a lot more to buy than a good dock.
Kind regards David

My understanding is the v1 doesn't resample but all others do.
I have a v1 and a v3. I haven't checked or tested because they're mostly used for children's tv.

Yes, I think it's "just" the v2 and v3 that re-sample; and really annoying that is too!

Though it's not for definite that without upsampling it would be better...
The AirPort Express doesn't upsample but most people will say the Apple TV is better as a digital source.
Other option is a dock like the Pure i20 which offers a digital output.

It's not upsampling it is resampling. Think of a number; divide by 44.1; multiply by 48. Land on a number that resembles the original sample ?
