Well. A happy ending.
I took the first speaker apart. I had to pull apart the processor and amp boards which are connected with two sets so about 20 pins. My dealer walked me through testing with a multimeter if the soldered connections where the wires had to be reconfigured for 110 were good and no problem.
Then, after reconnecting the two boards, my dealer walked me through testing the voltages with power to the board. Everything was fine again! So that was sort of confusing.
I reassembled the unit and it worked. I took apart the second speaker and realized what the problem had been with the first speaker. My guy had converted from 220 to 110 correctly but when he put the two boards back together on both speakers he missed connecting one set of pins. They had slid off to the side of the black female receptacle where the pins should have slipped in.
So now all is joy! What a relief!
