Hi to everyone.

Does anyone know what is the status of the new Meridian G series amps? Arey the in production yet? I have an order for a black G98AXV and a black G55 since mid December, and no one seems to know if and when I am going to get any of the above. Since its already been 6 months more or less, should I keep waiting for more or jump to another brand? I understand any problems Meridian may have with the new series, but still if I need to wait another six months, the G's may be obsolete by then ...

Any recommendations, news, updates, anyone ??????

Hi Costas;

G68s in all versions have been shipping for a few months now. There was a unexpecded long delay in getting a few of the key components for the G55 but they have been been shipping for the last month or so now.

Thank you MarcK. That sounds promising ...

I hope one of each of those is coming this way [Linked Image from softronix.com]

I received a Silver G57 from a Chicago dealer on May 29th; it was ready for delivery a week or so before that.

Hi Costas
Don't get your hopes up too much for your G55 I too have had one on order since early January with numerous delivery dates promised the last being 'definitely delivered week beginning 7th June' but nearly 2 weeks later and still no sign!!!
It's not that long ago I was told by my dealer that they still only had a prototype.
Sadly there doesn't seem to be an alternative amp (spatial dimensions here)otherwise I would have had it by now. The nearest is TAG McLarens 5 channel but it suffers from clashes with Meridian's remote frequencies ie it switches off amp channels when changing Meridian sources!.. helpful yes?
We continue to wait in eager anticipation

Hi Rod,

I am stunned. They are still in the prototype stage ??? And to think that they advertise the G's since last summer ....

as for alternatives, there are solutions, but they are way too expensive, unless you go for a lower priced system such as the Arcam PreAmp & 7 ch amp which had great reviews (not sure how it compares to the G's). The good thing is that everything else you can almost pick it from the dealer's shelve.

What could be the problem. The cases are bigger than the 5xx series, so getting rid of the heat must be possible in combination with the bigger case. Or am i wrong here.

I know there were some problems with the 558 amps in the beginning. The first ones i had tripped my fuses all the time on during power up. The later models behave normally.
Perhaps something like that ?

Dear all,

i'm very sorry to hear that so many people have to wait for so long. Recognize that i'm part of the lucky people which received a G55 (silver finish) only after three weeks i've made the order (a big thank's to my dealer). My unit has serialnumber 10010(!!-i don't know if this is significant). After a month of use i came to the conclusion that the G55 is wonderfully made and produce an amazing sound. The only small problem i have is with the trigger (i'm not able to switch it on or off - has somebody an idea?)

Cheers

Hi Stefan,

you may be the only person on the planet that I've heard who has received a G55 amp ;-)

Regarding the trigger, maybe the on/of relay switch is not working? Which controller are u using? 5xx series, G series or something else?

Hi,

well as i wrote i feel very lucky to have one. My setup is the following: G98DH-G68ADV-G55. The G55 is connected to the G68 on the Trigger output 1.

How can i verify if the switch is working or not?

Ciao

Stefan,

I guess you have to connect the one end of the trigger cable to the G68, and a polymeter on the other and switch the G68 on and check the readings on the polymeter -check the manual and if you get the G68/G55 specified volts/amps on the polimeter, then the G68 is ok and the G55 has a problem OR you need to see the trigger configuration on the G68.
From what I remember from the G68 specs it has configurable triggers, so maybe you need to set it up ...

That's all I can think of since I haven't had the chance to play with any of the above yet.

Stefan,

I use the trigger from my G68 to switch on/off a Parasound power amp, and this works very well.
You have to configure the trigger for each source you have on your G68 individually.
Go into the setup program and for each source (including the G68 itself):
- right click on the source
- select "properties"
- go to tab "source"
- specify which trigger output you want active for this source

Regards,
Mark
