I wouldn't care about having analogue outputs as well, but the SL only outputs might warrant Meridian producing a little SL-Legacy multichannel patch box? Otherwise how many Revivers or AC12s would legacy DSP owners have to buy for a full surround setup?

How many people do you think are buying a NEW 7.1 full DSP setup?

All 3200's would be the cheapest, but assume their not all 3200's. At that point, is one really going to take issue with the 500 dollars one could saved (or have not saved) because of the XLR inputs? Now, assume your adding 5200's or higher, it's a rounding error.

I think this also calls into question/issue with the lack of 7.1 input for this unit, as I think people would be looking at the 861. I would think this is how M is looking at it.

And there are those of us who mix analogue and digital...

I noticed that the second and third zone facilities of the G68 (forget what the G61 can do here) have fallen away. One part of me welcomes the simplification, another misses the sophisticated extra facilities.

A question perhaps worth debating is what impact this will have on the resale value of current equipment. At 4.5k, it is getting pretty close to the typical price of a second user 861v4 with analogue outputs, an LPS and a health check. I can't see it diminishing G68s (given they have already seem to have suffered after the power supply glitch frown ).

If Meridian were to offer attractive trade-in deals, as they have in the past, it might lead to a few 565/561/568s getting replaced.

Indeed. I love Meridian's digital speakers and don't foresee a time when I'll be without them. However, I currently use SVS for subwoofery and I don't foresee me using M subs, so an analogue out is a must.

The SL connection with the SL cable provide a sonic benefit over the standard SPDIF connection.
So a MCh box is not the goal to get the best possible sound.

AC12:
2 channel one AC12
3 channel two AC12
5 channel three AC12
7 channel four AC12

Reviver: PAIR layout
2 channel one reviver
3 channel two reviver
5 channel three reviver
7 channel four reviver

Reviver STAR layout(no SPDIF only SL cable)
Each DSP get one reviver

Or buy all new SL-DSP cry
or no G65 confused

The best thing, for me, about the G65 will be the increase in the amount of older processors on the second-hand market.

As Meridian claim to have applied a modular card approach to the G65 AKA 800 series philosophy, it is my understanding that this would be very simple. Just a matter of exclusion rather than inclusion. I hope I have read the market speak correctly.

Chris_G identified the usefulness of analogue outputs for people with full DSP systems but wanting to use analogue subwoofers.
