- It powers the MS200. - You can choose which level of end point you want. - You're not forced to pay for an unused endpoint if you're not a Sooloos user.
Maybe I am wrong but unfortunately I will still have to pay for all the analogue facilities that I am unlikely to ever use. If technically possible a digital only version of G65 c/w MS200 would be a very attractive proposition. Hector

Yes, that is what it says further up the thread. Maybe you should read what's already been written before posting?
Jeez, try decaf, I did read the whole thread, I didn't think this aspect was entirely clear, for example:

Which implies that the G65 might well be an endpoint? If so, it would be nice if there were clarification about the level of network card/endpoint in there - as good as an MS200, MS600, etc?
An MC600 is an endpoint, six of them in fact, I guess that is what was confusing about the no need to add an MS200 comment, the G65 has a SpeakerLink in but this is not a Sooloos endpoint.

I too was wondering how the G65 is used with a legacy DSP speaker system i.e. no SpeakerLink. Presumably only with Revivers if I understand their use correctly? In that case a digital only version would be very useful, though I doubt Meridian will release one if they wish to move the market on from digital to SpeakerLink input to DSP.

Hi 3dit0r, I think you have misunderstood, so please let me clarify:
The G65 does not have a Sooloos endpoint built in; neither does it have an RJ45 *network* connection of any sort. What it does have is two RJ45 SpeakerLink digital stereo inputs.
The most (sensible) way to add a Sooloos zone to the G65 is to connect the SpeakerLink output from a Sooloos endpoint to one of these two SpeakerLink inputs on the G65. Of the five current endpoints (MS200, MS600, MC200, MC600 and C15):
- The MS200 is the cheapest option, and is powered via SpeakerLink itself by the G65.
- Any one of the six SpeakerLink zones from an MC600 can be connected, which is what the earlier poster was querying. In his case, he does not need any additional kit.

a) IMHO Most Movies that are worth Buying and Watching on Bluray do not have 7.1 Soundtracks.
b) the Movies that do have 7.1 Discrete Soundtracks are not so easy to distinguish from what Meridian is able to "Synthesise" from the Rears and output thru the Sides in a Meridian 7.1 system. IMHO you really have to listen to hear the difference between the Discrete and Synthesised versions.
Good points well made. When I got my 861v8 I assumed that more films for the UK market would be 7.1. I was wrong. And did 7.1 really contribute much to Stone's film "W"? I don't think so. I think that those evaluating the G65 and considering an upgrade should move away from spec sheets and find out what their ears tell them.
It means that the G series has not been junked, as many were predicting. So Meridian are not only concentrating on the ultra high end 800 series, and this was also shown by the recent launch of the Director and Explorer (but please bring on the F/M80 replacement).
And the list of features means that much remains to be rolled out, particularly for their speakers. I hope we shall not have too much longer to wait.
Thanks for the clarification over the SL connection vs Sooloos endpoint, got it now!
I too think this is an encouraging move from Meridian. 800 series gear if fabulous, but with an equally fabulous price point, and we should remember that, to most people, even 4500 is very firmly in the high end! Meridian are to be applauded for maintaining their customer base in this sector and I can only see it being healthy for the company.
There are some interesting complementary non-Meridian product choices in the pictures in the G65 introduction. I can see an Oppo on page 10. Other members may be able to identify the others.
