Hello,
I just set up my DSP5000C and have a problem with my left speaker.
This is set to Left Slave but the red master signal remains on. The speaker is not reacting to any comms. The comms are passing through this speaker to the right speaker that is working properly so I don't believe it's a cable issue. Just to be sure I have tried another comms cable.
I substituted a DSP3100 and this works fine.
There is no offered option to set the centre speaker as a slave.
I have now made the left speaker a controller, as well as the processor, and can use the system if I sync the volume separately.
Any suggestions?
Neil

Hello Neil, Follow the instructions . You have first to type "6" the left speaker and set it to slave. Then the red light will be off, all other configs/setups are only necessary on the master speaker. Did your system run before or is it a first time installation? Robert

I am familiar with the instructions and process. I have typed them all to 6. The speaker shows left slave but the master red indicator stays on.
It worked before but then this was the master speaker.
When I do all the same things on a substituted DSP3100 all is well.

Might be worth a try re flashing the firmware, then retyping.
Sooloos, Roon, G series (with LPS upgrade), 800 series (with LPS upgrade), HD621, AC200, Prime and PS, DSPs old and new.
Purdeys, Moke, Leica, 'Blad. Only the best.

Thanks I think I'll try that, need to bring a Windows 7 laptop from work though.
I have the software as I was going to update anyway.
I'm afraid it may be a comm board issue.

I had a similar problem on my 5500s - speaker not accepting any comms and I think I fixed it by disconnecting all cables and re- typing with a different type. After that I reinstated the correct type and then reconnected comms cables. I couldn't tell you which element of the process fixed the problem or whether it will work in your particular circumstances but it may be worth a try. I'm assuming your left speaker will not allow you to re-type it as it stands. Good luck.

Thanks
I can actually retype it no problem.
It just refuses to give up being master despite the display showing slave.
I'll reflash it tomorrow.

Hi,
Sometimes it is worth putting to Type 1 and then retyping to Type 6.
Type 1 has a full reset policy within it (the usual IL65 issue can only be cleared by a Type 1)
Re-flashing a speaker is never a way of fixing it. If the software is corrupt it usually means it will not work full stop.
Regards Edd,

Hi
Tried all the suggestions but still no luck.
This speaker adamantly refuses to be a Slave.
I'm beginning to think bad thoughts about it.
When Typed to 1 I am only offered Master Left or Master Right.
When Typed to 6 I am offered all combinations but the Master indicator stays on and the speaker doesn't respond as a Slave should. I'd leave it as Master but the Centre speaker doesn't appear to be able to be set as a Slave Centre.
Any other suggestions?

Hi Neil,
It's a bit odd re your DSP5000 not switching the RED light off, and even odder that you can't set your DSP5000C to be a slave; any Meridian DSP can be Master or Slave.
I know you have said your are following the procedure to setup the DSP's but would you hummor me and describe step by step when typing and then configuring (Power switch, MSR/MSR+ buttons) when you attempt to set up:
1) Your DSP5000 as non-Master 2) Your DSP5000C as Master
Also what firmware versions are these speakers running.
