Hi Syles
Your post is ambiguous. Did Rueben raise prices ("put up") or publish prices? This is a contentious issue. I leave others to determine the direction of this argument.

Put up, as in put them up in the listing for everyone to see.

Not put up as in raised the price.

I should have typed 'stated the price in the listing'

The flip side is that with a smaller number of forums, threads got pushed off the first page *very* quickly. So, I'm not saying that the split was wrong in addressing this, but perhaps it has had unintended.
Although a sample size of 1, the split reduced my participation in the forum. With work and life being so busy, I used to like just being able to scan the new topics (and topics I'm interested in, with new posts) daily but now it's four times the work. I end up checking here about once a fortnight now.

Cheers,
David

Many thanks to all the HHers who have been a fantastic support to me on this thread and for all their custom over the past few years. I am very grateful for the volume of supportive emails and phone calls (as well as a number of PM's) I've received since the recent changes.

I want to make it clear that I will be launching a new website shortly. In the meantime, all who are interested, please email me (see my profile) and I'll send out my stock list and let you know when the website becomes live.

Despite being very disappointed by the decision out of the blue to deny independent dealers access to advertise in the Restaurant, I would like to take this opportunity to thank the moderators for all their hard work and efforts running and maintaining the forum. It was advertising on this forum that has essentially kept the wolf from the door since I closed down my furniture shop back in 2011 and for that I am thankful. As another member pointed out, I think the forum should charge a small fee for dealers advertising in the Restaurant, and in fact I have made a substantial yearly donation over the past two years in recognition of this.

I look forward to receiving emails from all those who'd like to keep in contact.

Best wishes,
Reuben

I've noticed this recently, maybe last 3-6 months, so not related to the split. The evidence that I use is the 'Top posters (30) days' which, as I type, range from 61-77, and I have seen far less recently. In the past, it was not uncommon to see top posters > 100. I realise that 5 posters do not represent the whole community, but I think it is evidence that posting rates have gone down. Being busier now, I certainly refrain more for getting that quick reply in now.

I do certainly believe that posting counts is a barometer to activity at M vs holiday periods.

Hi Reuben,

Many thanks for your comments and kind words, as you know you are still very welcome as a member on the HH Forum. I wish you every success with your new website, please let us know when it is complete.

Please can I ask that we now draw a line under this, and lets concentrate on giving help, support and advice to members with their Meridian Systems.

Kind regards
Duncan

I stumbled upon this recently (can't now remember what I was searching for).

Whilst trying hard to avoid an upset / apple-cart interface, I was wondering if, in light of Meridian's very short-lived direct support of the forum, whether the Mods think it might be appropriate to wind the clock back to HH v1 and welcome Reuben et al back into the fold?

I think most agree that it was an exciting opportunity that the Mods presented us with (Mothership involvement on the forum / hints re future product development etc etc) but, for one reason or another it just didn't work out and I'm sure that nobody feels any animosity about that. That being the case though, I wonder if there could be a consensus that the forum might benefit from a little tweak again...

As an aside, I was amazed to see that those changes were almost 3.5 years ago. eek

Mods?

I wonder whether one of the parties you allude to Russ are even monitorng the site anymore.

As it stands I think Erwin deserves a reinvite.

Lovely to have George back even though his absence was self-imposed.

I don't think you'd have to undo everything. I like the way it's broken down. You could just add one more sub-forum for "UnOfficial" resellers/dealers. I'm personally kind of shocked those folks were booted but I can see why some where not happy with it.

But that is completely up to the current Owners/Mods.

I bought from one of these exiled folk who is an absolutely diamond bloke, and I hated, just hated, what was done a few years back. Don't get me wrong, I respect and understand what the mods were trying to do, but personally I never got enough from the closer mothership relationship to justify losing some of our friends.
