Could a similar plug in be developed for XLD?

Does the open source nature of XLD mean an unofficial plug in is possible?

I had hoped that I could trick dBpa to rescan all my .WAV files that are on the NAS (but not in Sooloos), to get all the correct data and the re-upload into Sooloos. However, this is not to be, as you get this error:

"ID metadata does not contain a Raw CD TOC tag. This is a requirement for the Meridian XML DSP!"
I cannot see a way to retro fit the Raw CD TOC tag. If you could then a batch convert using the Meridian XML plugin would work fine. You could convert WAV to FLAC or even re-process FLAC to FLAC without re-ripping.

But, as I say with out the TOC tag enabled on first rip I haven't found a way to add it yet.

Hi Ronnie & All,

I've just tested dBpa multi-encoder.

I used 3 encoders

1) MP3 (into a specific MP3 folder)
2) normal FLAC (into a specific FLAC folder)
3) FLAC to Meridian XML (into the Sooloos restore folder)

The XML plug-in was embedded into the encoder settings NOT the DSP tab of the main dBpa acreen. So, only the 3rd encoder would pick up the XML task.

The FLAC XML encoder was listed last as it overwrites/renames the files, so, I wanted to the 1) and 2) encoders to work before that.

RESULT = Good news. All files created correctly in all the places that I had specified using just one rip.

This means that for those that keep parallel libraries (e.g. for Sooloos and Sonos or Squeeze) the Meridian plugin can be used very effectively.

Could someone show or list what fies are added to the backup directory as I still can't get restore to find anything that the plug-in is loading?

Did you use your existing Sooloos backup folder or a new folder for these new rips to go into?

I tried both. Initially to existing backup folder then to a fresh clean folder. First try to restore didn't find the added files that sat as a fresh folder named with the artist name after the existing backup folders, then, to a fresh folder I get "not a valid backup folder"

I had that issue initially. Not entirely sure what I did to resolve it. Will have to take another look.

Please forgive me, but I've not found a simple answer to this:

What does the dBpa plugin do for Sooloos metadata that doing a straight dBpa rip to FLAC followed by a Control:xxx import won't do?

It effectively shifts the meta selection and edit entirely into dBpa rather than a mixture of dBpa and Control:PC.

Previously, Control:PC would go off and do yet another lookup even though you had groomed the data already.

Using restore rather than import by-passes the meta edit.

If you already used dBpa then the difference is not so great. If you previously ripped with Control:PC only then it is a much better workflow. The artwork and multiple source lookups are obvious improvements.

And what is the trigger that means the second lookup doesn't take place?

Is it the XML file? Or something else to do with the format of the music files within the folder that's subsequently restored?

The mechanism is that it is RESTORE rather than IMPORT. Lookup is only done when importing. Backup, as you would expect, just restores what you have backed up, so, does not re-do any meta management.

Thanks Nick for confirming that dBpa will still Rip to multiple formats even with the Meridian Plug In.

Good information and applause due to Meridian, even if we all wish this was when we were creating or libraries.
