Hi again,
Before turning in for the night, I quickly setup a v4 and a pair of 7200's in Mconfig and the EBA option is not there in the presets; same setup but with a v6 or v8 861 and it is. So I concur with your thoughts on this.

Carl

Thanks for confirming that EBA is not available in 861v4 presets.

So for all practical purposes EBA is only useable for 861v6 & v8 users.

I wonder why the v4 doesn't have the facility?

A bug? Worth querying this through your dealer.

Hi,

The EBA can be set in the DSP7200 config as on, off or Speakerlink controlled.

Unfortunately it can't be controlled over a legacy DIN Comms connection, I'm not sure of the technicalities why not, but Meridian tell me it isn't possible.

That's why you don't get the option of setting it via the 861v4 configuration, as it only has legacy DIN Comms.

Cheers,

Rick

If it can be configured on a per source basis, you could use phantom sources to switch it on and off?

Hi VK,

On the DSP speakers it is a global setting not per source.

On the processor it is per DSP preset, but this option is not available on the 861v4 or lower (i.e. non-SpeakerLink).

Carl

Hi Rick,

Thanks as always for the 'horse's mouth' information.

It does seem 'odd' that Meridian say it is a technical issue with the v4 comms, but then I ask myself "why would they chose not to do it? if it was technically possible". That said the 861v4 can't run an ID40 wink Oh yes it can!

I know it is not what is possible, it is what is desirable as driven my the Marketing strategy at any particular point in time.

It's all a bit pragmatic; as until more DSPs support EBA it's not that useful in a Multichannel setup. The only use case that works currently is a pair of 7200's as front left/right when in DIRECT mode, or an all DSP7200 setup for music, with movies were are back to lip-sync issues that would need to be compensated for.

Regards,
Carl

The campaign to retrofit discarded OE14 SpeakerLink cards into v4 units post v8 upgrade starts here wink

I'm really loving my ID40 sound from v4!

Hi.

So it should be possible to run EBA in multichannel with DSP7200.2 in front and DSP520/DSP640 as centre/back speakers then?

Anybody know if DSP520/DSP640 can be set EBA "Yes" as the 7200.2 can?

Hi Frode,

I did not think DSP520/DSP640 supports EBA, where did you read that that did?

Carl

Hi Carl,

On M pages / DSP520-> Technologies. Nothing about EBA in the product sheet though.

Hi,

I am thinking of DSP520/640 as centre and back speakers. That way I will have 5 EBA supported speakers. Given that DSP520/640 can be set EBA on the speaker (as I have G61).
