Yesterday I was hearing a kind of small odd sound from my G68, I decided to switch off as the unit was very hot and switched on again, but it didn't. I tried again this morning, no response. I changed the fuse, same result. Do you thing it is the same PCB issue reported by HH fellas? What can I do to repair on the most cost effective way?

I have 3 DSP5200's (LCR) and then decided to plug the sat decoder directly to one pair, but I just get sound from non "numerical" channels, everything that is digital is not extracting any sound. Do you know if the DSP5200 can decode or play digital sound?

I used type 6 and type 1 without any success.

I am really annoyed as kids want to watch TV.

Assuming you are not under warranty / don't have a good dealer nearby / like to tinker yourself, I replaced my power supply myself. Very easy with the wiki and posts (use google search (top left) and search for G68 power for me. Part was cheap, under 50 euro.

You can even look at switching to a linear PSU, see other topic.

As for symptoms, mine was starting to run hot, made popping noises and had issues with volume knob.

Presumably your Sat decoder is outputting PCM for some channels and Dolby for others. Have you tried telling your Sat decoder only to output PCM?

I am unlucky P POWER - ECM40UT31 are out of stock, expected August 19th (maybe).

Is there any other one can could fit?

I think there also is a larger capacity version you could use (i.e. ECM60UT31). Or go linear.
Maybe PM WelwynNick and ask him, he has been tinkering with different power units.

Or see if Newark can ship it for an acceptable price?

I use the 60W version, it's basically the same unit with some beefed up regulation to cope with the higher rail loads it is designed for.

Do you have the part reference number?

Does it fit and is it identical to install/setup?

It's as Roving Gecko posted it, a 6 instead of a 4 in the part number.
As I recall it's the same size, worryingly (or not) the heatsink is the same for both.

Thank you All, I was able to order a new PSU at Farnell the version 6, costed me around 100� including shipping. I received it the following day and then followed the great instructions posted by JEJE (solding etc..) my only concern is that on step 10 (pull electrical wires) I kind of mixed the 2 red cables (one is 5.0V the other I don't know), if anyone can tell me which red cable is the 5.0V that would help

Both red leads are 5V so don't worry about getting them mixed up.

To adjust the output voltage there is a trim pot on the PSU - from memory I think this is visible in photo's in the Wiki but I can't check as it's still down. Anyway, turn this whilst measuring the output voltage using a multimeter. Take care to follow the full instructions in the Wiki - Jeje wrote these in consultation with me after I guided him through his own PSU replacement. Main thing is take care - you are working with live voltages - if you are not confident then don't do it.

I must admit I have always been puzzled as to whether the adjustment from 5.0V to 5.2V is strictly necessary - the early type PSUs were not adjustable and were set to 5.0V. It may well be that 5.2v is the optimal voltage but I don't think it's critical.
