Owned 2 pioneer players (717 and 747) Was not that impressed of the sound compared with my Meridian.
So if i go for another SACD, it would likely be a audio only Sony or Marantz.
For this mod you would only need good drive unit, no fancy analogue output stages.
So there are not many options.
Might try my current Sony. Perhaps the drive in that cheaper unit is not much different from the top units, only the electronics are ?
