I have a 562V and a pair of DSP6000's.

I have 2 (identical) cables. I'll try to upload a photo.

I suppose the first cable goes from 562V to master DSP6000.

The 2nd cable goes from master DSP6000 to slave DSP6000.

Am I right so far?

The thing is, I don't know where to fit the cable into the 562V. It just does not fit.

Any suggestions, please?

Hi and welcome to the forum.

I assume these cables are Meridian speaker cables with two connections at each end (RCA & DIN).

Are you sure the two cables are identical, check out the DIN plug pin connections at each end.

Do you have the manuals? If not you can download the from Duncan's Meridian Information site.

Please read them and then re-read them, Meridian kit is not plug and play and to be able to setup and get the best out of them you will need the manuals close at hand.

Regards,
Carl

Welcome to HH.

Can you confirm that you have the user manuals for the 562 and speakers?

If yes, please review these first.

If no, then download them from Duncan's website (link at the top)

RvW,

Welcome to the forum.

Could you tell us what cables you're trying to use?

For the link between the 562v and DSP you need a master cable, which has a 240-DIN at one end with an RCA SPDIF cable attached.

The slave cable has 180-DIN cables at both ends (as well as the RCAs).

Sooloos, Roon, G series (with LPS upgrade), 800 series (with LPS upgrade), HD621, AC200, Prime and PS, DSPs old and new.

Oh my... Could it really be as simple as that? I'm guessing I used the wrong cable then. I was convinced they were identical. I'll find out and get back to you.

Hi RvW

Your photo shows the rear of a D6000, not the more recent DSP6000. I think the D6000 may use 600 and 200 series comms, which is not the same as the 500 series comms which the 562 uses. The 562 may be configurable to work in this way (can't remember offhand, but it will say in the manual if so).

I'm assuming that the 180 degree Local ports should be connected between both speakers with an 5S cable (that's the slave version), and the Master D6000 may be connected to the 562 via the Global port, with a M5 (Master) cable, as suggested by dpstjp, but this is all conjecture on my part!

Cheers

George

Don't worry, we've all been there.

I spent a good 10 minutes once trying to plug an S cable into an M socket. When you can see the back of the unit it's not easy!

Oh, and do read the manual.

Thank you for the warm welcome, everyone. Everyone is so friendly and helpful here. You guys are heroes!

So my cables are Meridian speaker cables with two connections at each end (RCA & DIN). They are not identical. And it's D6000, not DSP6000. Every day I learn something new. smile

In the meantime I was able to connect them... Sort of.

I'm pretty sure I've got the hang of it now but I would like confirmation. Just to be sure.

On this picture you can see the back side of the 562V:

1. I put the black 240-DIN cable where it says COMMS. There are 2 COMMS. I used the left.

2. I put the black RCA SPDIF cable where it says Digital Outputs. Once again there are 2: Main and Tape. I used Main.

On the following picture you can see the rear of the D6000 Master:

3. I put the black 240-DIN cable (coming from the 562V) where it says INPUT GLOBAL.

4. I put the black RCA SPDIF cable in DIGITAL AUDIO D.

Then we go from Master to Slave:

5. I put the grey 240-DIN cable in the Master where it says OUTPUT LOCAL.

6. I put the grey RCA SPDIF cable in DIGITAL AUDIO D OUT.

On the third picture you can see the rear of the D6000 Slave:

7. Similar to 3.

8. Similar to 4.

So what happens when you press display or clear on the remote control or on the 562 ?

When I press display it shows me the different sources and the volume, e.g. LD65, on the 562V and on both speakers. However, when I play back a CD the tweeters don't work (on both speakers). So there must be something wrong with my cables I guess?

I'm worried about your tweeters not working. Cables may well be an issue, easily fixed though.

The 562v has no audio processing (to my knowledge).

Have you re typed your speakers?
