I'd like to know if anybody here is using power conditioners with your Meridian kit. Which ones have you tried and like?

Would you recommend connecting the DSP active speakers to a conditioner like a Richard Gray, PS Audio, Shunyata, Chang... or go direct to the wall?

Comments/Suggestions?

After a long wait, I have the Shunyata Hydra-8 in my system. Strong recommendation to try this device in your system. Allows the music to flow!

Are you connecting your DSP speakers to these units or only the front-ends?

Thanks!

i have my 861, 598, DSP6000s and DSP5500HC plugged into a pair of ExactPower units (their last-gen stuff).

check the archives - this topic comes up every N weeks.

i avoid stuff like richard gray that can't or won't explain how their stuff works. there's too much snake oil in the high end as it is.

the regenerators (ps audio, exactpower) have some science in the equation that is grokkable.

if it's not science, it's fiction ;-)

Doody - The EP seems to enjoy concensus as the best choice (though I agree with Rodhunt that Shunyata stuff is really good). I have no experience with RG.

EP is expensive, but will defenitely look into it (I thought a ps audio ultimate outlet (about $400) would be a good choice, any experience with it?). I don't have a real problem with my current as I have a seperate connection from the rest of the house - but I am not sure how clean it is or how much the sound/video would improve with the right conditioner.

I guess a "problem" of the system is too much choice ;-)

I looked at the archives, I see this is a hot topic!!!

Cheers!

the thing that sold me on the power regenerators were scope output showing reduced noise floor. that's worth money.

the thing that sold me on EP over PS Audio is the efficiency factor: PS Audio regenerates 100% of the signal while EP only regenerates a portion of it (33%?). so PS setups end up consuming 2X the power your system needs, while the EP has lower overhead (and all that consumed power has to turn to heat, basically).

I use Exactpower EP15A(filter/regenerator) and SP15A (balanced power) units since a few weeks.
Thus far i am pretty happy with it. To my surprise i could almost run my complete system on one Exactpower unit (the EP15 is rated 7.5 amps at 230 volts for Europe and the SP15 can do 10 amps at 230 volts for Europe)
Though they are expensive, they do deliver what they promise. Like Doody already wrote, the reduce the noice floor. My video is blacker than ever before, voices are clearer.

It was a bit of a guess, but it turned out very well for me.

I use a EP 15 for my entire front end,861, 598, DSP6000s, DSPHC5500, SIM2 300+ and it seems to handle them efficiently, lowering the noise floor, wider dynamics, jet black backgrounds.
You can snag one for 1500,there is going to be an increase in retail price to 2499.

I heared that as well from the Dutch Distributor. Reason: they will be made outside the USA (China ?)

Could not follow that, as that normally means lower prices due to less labour cost.

You might also try an AC line tester and check the quality of power at different times during the day. If it's all over the place, I'd give the EP strong consideration. Another test you can try is listen to your system very late at night after everyone's asleep and the load is low and compare to how it sounds at other times.
