Arlen, that does seem a bit weird. Have you tried the duplicate artist button in settings ? Probably doesn't add up to the difference you see.

Hi Nick, yes I have tried that and no duplicates were found. The only cause I can imagine is that the artists are a residue of the deleted libary of the first owner of my MD600. When I edit an album and for instance type in Ma... as the artist, Control:PC automatically comes up with Madonna. I have no albums by Madonna, but there were some of her albums in the deleted library.
After I bought the MD600, I bulk deleted, and then restored my backup from my old MC200. But somewhere in between, lots of data must have been saved.

You could try and delete the musiccollection.db file. The system will regenerate it by scanning the album files. Worth a try and just rename the original so that you can revert back.
Make sure you have a full backup of course.
If that doesn't resolve it then reformat the HDD's and do a full album restore. I cannot see the original owner's artists getting back in from that.

Make sure you have a full backup of course. Yesterday, I removed music2collection.db with the http GET command http://host:port/?fscmd=delete&path=/Music/music2collection.db (I have folders called 'music' and 'music2', but only the latter contains data.) I couldn't find a command to rename the file, so I just relied on my luck. The system did regenerate a new version of it, but it remained very small. Everything still kept working, though, but my album & artist statistics were still wrong. But after a reboot with Sooloos Configure, the system stopped working, although all music files were still on the disc, which could be seen via the debug screen. But the db file didn't contain any useful info. I then restored a backup and now everything is alright. My new stats are (On MD600 with 1 TB in raid 1): Artists: 600 Albums: 1297 Tracks: 13597 Total storage: 984 GB Free storage: 567 GB no MP3

Not sure why you would use commands instead of just viewing the directory in windows explorer just like any other directory. File rename just like any file.
Anyhow, glad the backup restore has done the trick.

Is there any way to make a connection between Windows explorer and the MD600?
