Anyone know if I can use an Explorer to listen to music stored on a Blackberry Playbook? Or indeed, whether it would be worth so doing?

It might if the BB micro USB has enough power to drive the Explorer or if you have a powered hub for it.

Are you talking Sooloos or Blackberry?
If Sooloos Control:Mac etc, you need to plug Explorer in then start Control:Mac/Control:PC as they do not detect it being hot plugged. Then go into CPC/CMac settings and enable it under desktop audio.

Hi Jack,
You do understand that the Explorer is a USB output device for use typically on a MAC or PC?
I am not sure what you would expect to do with it in Mconfig... even if it were there (which it is not).

Yes I am.
My question is how come it is not an option for sources in the configuration program?
You know like G98DH, HD621 etc.

The configuration program was released before the Explorer was introduced. It has not yet been updated. It may never be. Just pick an analog input and rename it. I renamed my input MDAC (Meridian DAC) for lack of something more clever.

Probably because its a standalone audio source, like a PC, or a Sonos box or hundreds of other audio devices and not integrated via Meridian comms. There is nothing to configure nor nothing else reliant on its configuration.

Hi Crion et al Thanks for the link in your post I have now had the opportunity to compare Explorer V1 and V2 versions.
FWIW
My set up MD600 to HARTING industrial grade 10/100 unmanaged switch to iMac (bit perfect app enabled) to Explorer to Grado GS1000i headphones. Before anyone asks, M supplied USB cable used!
I purchased Explorer on release then heard of product mod as described in post of Crion and decided to make a comparison if it became possible.
Subsequently V1 serial number MA 012E and V2 serial number MA 0116 were critically compared.
These are cheese and cheese but different. V1 in the above set up gives greater definition, hence wonderful clarity, a greater soundstage and very cohesive results over the entire frequency range. As a very obvious difference percussion is more forward, sharper and entirely convincing.
V2 is different more mellow (some may prefer this) more pronounced in the mid range but lacks the immediacy and live impression of V1
To validate these impressions an old inexpensive pair of Panasonic headphones were also tested. These confirmed the mid range differences of V1 to V2 but obviously not as pronounced as with the Grado cans.
Test Tracks Eva Cassidy, Album Songbird, Track "Fields of Gold" Eva Cassidy, Album Live at Blues Alley, Track "Fields of Gold" Euge Groove, Album House of Groove, Track "House of Groove" Chris Botti, Album Night Sessions, Track "When I See You" Leftfield, Album Leftism, Track "Original" Ida Cernecka, Album Chopin Piano Concerto No 1, Track "Rondo"
My Conclusion There are many variables here and this cannot in any way be taken as conclusive, however for me I will categorically stick with V1 and not swap for V2. For me V1 is more Meridian like and I sincerely hope that V1 is available in the future. Advice Make a comparison in your set up before making a decision to swap. Hector

Interesting.
Did you do the comparison using headphones only? Or did you also compare the sound of the line out? Is the line out even affected by the "running change".
