John, setting the devices to "Auto" means they will typically default to controller pending a system auto controller setup, which is initiated by pressing clear on the MSR+ as I described above. See G92 User Guide page 21.

With a correctly connected system (Comms leads), when the clear button is pressed, the processor will briefly display "auto" followed by "Controller" and other M devices and the Master DSP will display "Not Controller" / "N.Cont".

Having more than one controller in a Meridian system can lead to unpredictable system behaviour such as MSR keys being reacted to twice resulting in say volume control being erratic and or slow to react.

I believe that currently your Master DSP and the Processor are both acting as controllers.
Which is why: the Master DSP is reacting to the MSR and the processor is reacting to the RS232 port.

As I said, "this may be good for you", but it is not recommended. However, it's your system and provide you understand the caveats you may wish to leave it this way. Personal I would not and if I want both MSR and RS232 I would install a 3rd party IR extender.
