Thanks Porsche. They are an authorized dealer and may be the only authorized dealer in PA or Delaware. I will have to check. They are checking with Meridian on what is wrong with the unit.

I would check all connections inside. In particular there is a small white connector box where the toroid is connected to the motherboard. Be sure to pull-test the connecting cables because the screw connectors are not supersnug fit for the cables. An easy test instead of shipping the unit off. Indeed, the most fidly part of the LPSU replacement. Very easy to not get a good connection. Also, new LPSU requires a different fuse for 115V operation (3.15 A versus 1.6 A - has to be a T fuse; T for timed or slo-blo). My upgraded v8 has been rock solid (although now I've likely jinxed myself).

Thanks Simon. The dealer has said that Meridian has determined that there was a faulty upgrade kit. They are sending the dealer a new upgrade kit. The dealer is going to burn it in for 24 hours to test it and then let me know.

Don't wish to nit pit but I think the soak test is actually part of the upgrade process, sounds like they didn't do that in the first place ( that's another $100 added to the discount requirement).

Hi Carl, I do have a HD621.
I also wanted to figure out whether the sound quality of playing music from a Mac Book Pro through the USB input on the 861v8 is compared to the Sooloos. I know that the user interface will not be nearly as nice or useful, but has anyone compared the two approaches on the 861v8?
