I would like to see a low cost store core solution like MD200 with a single removable drive.

Why not a dual drive lower cost MD600 meant for hiding.
Built like QNAP/Synology with the best dualcore atom processors. Much lower energy draw, better efficiency.
Or better yet, just support store on standard CIFS/NFS share and stop making overbuilt, inefficient stores altogether.
Meridians know-how and resources could be put to better use than trying to keep up with their own storage to little or no benefit to the end user except a hole in the wallet and pretty aluminium to look at.

M80 replacement with good MDMS integration! Meaning with a little screen on it showing 3 lines of info.
Nothing else much missing IMO.

An MS600 with the top of the line ID41 card for those who don't need a CD player or preamp built in. Oh, and a few switchable filters to offer alternatives to the standard apodising filter.

An amplified MS200/MS600, for those of us not using DSP speakers. Said another way, DSP speakers without the drivers!
Primary: MD600, MS200 (SpeakerLink to AES), Trinnov ST-2, Ayre V6-xe, Salk SS8 3x LRC. Secondary: MC600 (whole house). Zone one: 568.2, G57, MS200, Spatial Hologram M2SE. Zone 2-6 (Awaiting assignment).

A proper headphone amplifier version of the MS200 or MS600 capable of driving expensive cans.
A MS600 that can accept other digital inputs. It's a very expensive DAC that I can't use for anything else.
A MS800 = MS600 + proper preamplifier section. Or is that a G68 with direct MDMS input.
A MS200 with proper RCA outputs. I hate the stupid 3.5mm plug.
A MC400 = A MD600 with zone output = MD600 + MS600 in one box. Would make it much easier to take around to a friends place or setup for a party offsite.
A MD600 with passive cooling.
All the above with better power supplies and better internal isolation. Some external colour choice would be popular with you know who.
Finally an automotive MC200 I could retro fit to any car.

Hi Nick, A MS600 that can accept other digital inputs. It's a very expensive DAC that I can't use for anything else. A MS800 = MS600 + proper preamplifier section. Is that not the existing 818? A MC400 = A MD600 with zone output = MD600 + MS600 in one box. Is that not the existing MC600? Regards, Carl

And the MC600 is close but no balanced out and I don't need 6 zones. Even just put the MC200 output card in the MD600.

Even just put the mc200 output card in the MD600. I have requested that Meridian package the Explorer drivers pre installed on the MC200/MD600 type devices to allow Explorer to be used as a zone direct from these devices (for me, my F80 sits above my MC200 and an optical connection via an Explorer would have been perfect. For others, headphones out may be useful. The suggested response was in my case to use an MS200. Technically, I understand that there is nothing preventing use of Explorer on Linux based boxes.
Meridian owner since 1992 Prime & PSU, Focal Elear headphones, Roon (ROCK 8Gi5 NUC), Explorer 1 & 2, F80. 200/203, various Sonos (via Roon).

The suggested response was in my case to use an MS200 Yes I well understand the MS200 point of view. If I have the MD600 in my listening room it's still a pain to have to go back to a switch and then out the the MS200 again. Plus the cost (small beer yes) of the switch but also the extra power cables and wall wart power supplies and extra RF noise etc. It would be a lot simpler if the MD600 had an output like the MC200. Interesting idea on using the Explorer that way though.

... and extra RF noise etc. This is why Meridian offer two box solutions to keep the RF noise out of the MS200/MS600. Regards, Carl
