Just a basic Meridian question from those of us who have no experience with the larger Meridian systems. Is it possible to use the Explorer to feed one of the Meridian DSP speakers for a basic bedroom system? If I have my laptop, the Explorer with its volume adjusted line or Toslink out, and a pair of second hand DSP3100's, what other hardware do I need?

TV Room: F80, i80, Airport Express, Beresford mini toslink-mini toslink, Nordost Optix S-Video.
Main: Verdier turntable, Naim CD555, 2 x 555PS. Naim NAC 552, NAP500. ProAc D40-R. Fraim.
Upstairs: Naim CD5X, NaitXS, FlatcapXS, nSats, Isoblue rack.
Notable Extras: Halide DAC HD cable. Meridian Explorer.

An optical to SPDIF converter, that's all. I think one was mentioned earlier in this thread.

Cheers

Meridian Explorer: Effects of Output Impedance on Headphone Listening

Getting 10 times better but still some ways left to make Sony XBA-4 (8 Ohm) balanced armature IEM's perfect for the explorer output impedance. Probably need 10 times lower output impedance still to 0,5 Ohm like HRT Micro streamer or iPhone 4 at 0,97 Ohm.

How could I move the Explorer form one USB port to another USB port. I have tried many times but didn't works. I even uninstalled the driver and plugged the Explorer to another USB port and reinstalled the drive, it still didn't work.

Do the Explorer lights come on? Some USB ports, hubs or daisy chained setups may not support the power requirements needed for the Explorer. Try a different port or of you are using a hub, see if it can be connected to a power supply.

Yes, it does.
My ME is connected with my PC. I can use every USB port to charge my Android cell phone. So it doesn't like the power problem.
I have tried every port, only one worked. Tonight I'm going to try it on my laptop.

If you go to Windows device manager, what does it show for the Explorer?

It shows just what it's supposed to be "Meridian Explorer USB". I have already accepted it.
Since the original cable is too short, I use my PS3's cable, it is much longer and it works. grin

What audio software are you trying to use it through? Have you tried other software or seen if its recognised in Windows audio properties?

If you are using Control:PC etc, then you may need to enable it in settings/desktop audio as it may be recognised as a different device as it is on a different USB port and thus need to be specifically enabled.
