If you like comedy in the style of the old fashioned farce, try "Oscar" with Sylvester Stallone. Sounds unlikely but it really works! Well IMHO.

Just got back from MK Xscape. Les Miserables lives up to all the reviews. It is a stunning production and the soundtrack is truly amazing. The audience, including me, gave a spontaneous round of applause at the end and stayed firmly in their seats for the credits. Best AV experience in years, perhaps ever. A must see, Hector.

Any 3D?
No 18 in the Hall of fame I have simple tastes; I am content to settle for the best: GIK monster bass panels, rear wall. QNAP TVS 471i3. Roon into DSP5200SE via 210/ 218 zone... Explorer 2. Bluesound Pulse 2, Mini & Flex. 596v1, 518, Foxsat HD, Sony BDP, Pioneer 5090, 2 Chromecast's for LRB videos. MS200 to F80 for a Roon zone

Hi Chris No 3D. However I can say that I was convinced without this technology. I was transported to another time and place. One brief emotional transcendental scene shot at the Convent towards the end of the movie had the audience looking up at the architecture and stained glass windows. I was there. Almost had to pinch myself to come back to reality. And before you ask I had not been on the popcorn. Hector

Not a movie but David Attenborough's Africa - The Cape (BBC1HD) was stunning, the best of the series so far and possibly the best picture quality I have ever seen on a television.
In the spirit of Spinaltap, I would like to confirm that I am not involved in the corrupt theft of a global sport.

I just ordered it on the strength of the trailer link you provided. Quite stunning.

I just watched the blu-ray of Life of Pi. It was absolutely stunning in terms of its picture quality and the visuals that it presents. Watched it in 2D and imagine that the 3D presentation would be even better.

3D is fabulous too. Really interesting story too (not having read the book).
Stunning and often surprising visuals.

Yes, Meridialien, it is an example of a good use of 3D and they really did a great job on the visuals, especially since most of the movie was made in a water tank.

One that I really enjoyed at the cinema and which is now out to rave reviews on Bluray (& DVD) is The Impossible.
A humbling story of course, and Ewen McGregor isn't always my cup of tea, but the whole experience is terrifically powerful. A perfect use of CG too; immersive & impressive without being 'eye candy'.
Possibly not one for that all important first date but otherwise hard to go wrong!

I've seen another Kiarostami, this time Close Up and once more my breath has been taken away. People may have seen the recent "Copie Conforme" and if that even half-interested you, I urge you to try his earlier films.
