Something seems strange. Seems to me if there were a fundamental incompatibility, we'd have had multiple reports? I have it on good authority that there are functionning units in the market (and I will be doing mine shortly).

Just upgraded all processors and the 818.
Wondered if anyone noticed any 'burn-in' time with the upgrades? Is there any change over the first few weeks?

Well it says in the upgrade manual that it should be on for at least 8 hours continously after the upgrade has been done.
So let's just say 24 hours should be enough to experience the full benefit of the upgrade. It is a new PSU after all.

I have now solved my problems for the moment. If I start my 861 without the Ethernet cable connected and when the 861 is in standby I connect the cable. If I follow this procedure then the 861 works fine. I am waiting for a replacement card (ID41) from Meridian. There is still the problem that the music stops playing if I switch tracks.

Herman, I really think you should Type reset your 861v8 and start with a fresh config. It sounds like your machine is partly inconstent config wise.

I have done that a number of times. I do think it is something with the ID41 card or a comination with another card in the 861. I have connected one of my MS600 to the 861 and then the system works fine.
If you connect the MS600 via SpeakerLink the 861 behaves very strange, but using an ID41 together with a MS600 is a strange combination.
