I recently added a MS600 to my second room set up. It linked to main room C15. I am not too happy with sound performance - rather disappointing.

The MS600 is digitally connected to G91A then to 555 power amp into A500s. Sound is rather harsh and thin and limited base. It's not as round as CD played through 91A.

Of course I am also comparing with main room set up where C15 is linked to G61R and thence to DSP7000s difference is like day and night, then so it should be.

That said, I think I should be doing better, because prior to this Denon streamer linked to to Toshiba laptop sounded superior. Also Arcam solo was better.

One day I will be able to afford DSP's in second room... I hope, but right now it's not too good, lots of complaints from management - this is her main listening room. NB. This is a hard room hard floors, lots of glass and vaulted ceiling. Main listening room is soft and traditionally furnished.

Any ideas?
Huw

Have you tried the MS600 in your main system to ensure its not a problem with the unit?
Thoughts, Chris smile

GIK monster bass panels, rear wall. QNAP TVS 471i3. Roon into DSP5200SE via 210/ 218 zone... Explorer 2. Bluesound Pulse 2, Mini & Flex. 596v1, 518, Foxsat HD, Sony BDP, Pioneer 5090, 2 Chromecast's for LRB videos. MS200 to F80 for a Roon zone

I would plug it straight into the 7000s, see how that sounds.

I had both units that you have. I went from a G91DH to a G61R. That is a big diffrence. So that second room is not as good as the main room.

The MS600 is a dedicated stereo source and is by far better then the G91. It sounds better then the G61R to. So maybe you could add it in your main room.

Chris I have not tried that , could do so to see how it checks out but I suspect it will be much enhanced when connected to 7000s , because they are so much better.

Hi Huw

I use a MS600 and it sounds great. HermanAtHome here on HH uses two MS600 and they sound great. What I want to say is that the MS600 is not a poor performing product. It actually sounds very good.

Looking for problems is always hard and time consuming. Check products, cables, inputs. My procedures when looking for problems.

Hope everything works out well.

Best Regards, Per Nilsson

I do not need in main room as I already have C15 in there. Also even though in the second room it could be more dedicated by direct connection to DSPs , I do not have them there yet.... The MS600 has SpeakerLink but the 91a has not, so messy connections looming . I use the 91a for CD and extensively DAB radio.

I am sure it will be massively better based on 7000s which are superb, but it's worth anyway to check the unit. I also have replied to your PM
Thanks regards. Huw

I would expect the MS600 to acually be better than a C15. Way more noise going on in the C15 (which is an PC under the bonnet). The MS600 is a dedicated audio tool.

Suggest a try just to satisfy whether it makes any difference to you.

Could you get away with an MS600(MS200) straight into DSPs, you could then put the other streamer in the second input? Do you use the G91 for anything in particular (you can get radio off Sooloos-sounds good at that)? Compare MS200/MS600 perhaps?
