Or a rogue device on the network that comes and goes with same IP address. If you keep switching your devices off and on and you are not using fixed ip addresses set on each the device then I would hate to think what mess your ip addresses might be getting in. No Ian, I do not "keep switching your devices off and on". T3 has been off line for some time until now but T1 & T2 have been on 24/7. But T3 has been on and online for the last few weeks except when it decided to go offline so had to be rebooted to wake it up. You make a valid point but it is not the answer to what is happening but thanks to Russ a solution is in sight. John

For the info of others, it looks like this TwinStore needs servicing, something not surprising. Unlike the other two, purchased new, this third one is a used unit with new HDDs installed, but has seen a lot of service with a dealer who had it running for a long time before it came my way. Really, these things need to be serviced? The moving parts are the hard drives and the fans? What on a Twin Store needs to be serviced?
Primary: MD600, MS200 (SpeakerLink to AES), Trinnov ST-2, Ayre V6-xe, Salk SS8 3x LRC. Secondary: MC600 (whole house). Zone one: 568.2, G57, MS200, Spatial Hologram M2SE. Zone 2-6 (Awaiting assignment).

When this happens will everything go back to normal if you do nothing but wait for a few minutes? If so this might just be the daily check Meridian does on the hard drives in your TwinStores.
At about the same time every day my Sooloos system (C10 & TwinStores) stops playing and shows a device offline message. I was assuming this is the daily check of the drives. This is scheduled to happen in the middle of the night, but since I'm in a different time zone it happens sometime between 5 & 9pm for me.
So much music, so little time. Sooloos Control:10, TwinStore (4TB) McIntosh MDA1000, 60th Anniversary C22 & MC75s B&W Signature Diamond

If you want this to stop, as it sounds like a very inconvenient time for a Stop in Play, then change the Core to a Fixed IP Address using the Sooloos Configuration Program
I had the same problem of the Core Resetting itself at the same time every day and setting the IP Address of the Core to Fixed IP resolved the problem
And I'm not that sure that this has anything to do with any System Checks that Meridian may be doing!!

Backup completed without any glitches - T3 purred away for 30+ hours with no fault.
There is another obvious fault to check out - maybe the power connections to T3 was not in as securely as it should be. That has now been double checked so we shall see if there is any recurrence.
Apart from that the IP address situation is about the only other possibility.

You are correct about the TwinStores and fans being the only "moving parts". However some early TwinStores did develop an internal power supply connection fault which was rectified on later models. With this TwinStore purchased used, there was the possibility it was an earlier unit had that internal power connection fault. I've dismantled it this morning and see it actually is a later model so that possibility is ruled out. All back together and working fine again.

Took a break off editing, came back to the C10 and it had gone offline again This time all that was done was to change the port on the router and hey presto, it came back on line again. No re-boot of either the C10 or TwinStore. So it is definitely not a power supply problem and appears that T3 is the culprit as suspected (T1 & T2 are powered off) so it is a network problem as suggested earlier.

I know this might sound strange, but try disconnecting everything from the C10 and then toggle the power button a few times and let it sit. You DON'T need to reboot the TwinStore, well at least I didn't.. I had a real strange issue with mine, that required I do the same, to get it to work. Almost like there was a ground issue.

Ian was right - it would have been appreciated if he or Ludwig had reminded me of the cure at the time but that has finally been recalled.
For the information of others who also experience this, all IP settings need to be reset. The process is:
1. Power off both the modem and router. and leave for a minute or so. 2. Power on the router. 3. Power on the modem.

I guess that's the digital age's equivalent of giving it a sharp tap.

John Do you use fixed IP-address now?

Yes although a friend is doubtful about whether or not it is worthwhile. We shall see about that.
