For Mac users, JRiver for Mac is due and they are selling cheap licenses in advance (17 quid ish). You then have a player. Then there are remote apps with very good interfaces, worth a look.

I tried a trial of Pure Music. I didn't like the fact that in order to work it wrote a whole load of "dummy" .MP4 files to my music library (think they were MP4, certainly some sort of music file). I then had to make sure that my Squeezebox library (which I was then running) didn't scan for MP4, and then had to transcode any real MP4 files in the library to a different format to make sure that they still did get picked up by Squeezebox.

Not perfect, frankly. I'd much rather a programme just read the library than started messing it around. Took me ages to delete them all again when the trial was over.

Sooloos, Roon, G series (with LPS upgrade), 800 series (with LPS upgrade), HD621, AC200, Prime and PS, DSPs old and new.

Purdeys, Moke, Leica, 'Blad. Only the best.

Hi,

Another option for the Mac is Audirvana Plus.

Pure Music works well with Mac, I thought it was only Mac as it piggybacks iTunes. For FLAC file, DSD etc, not supported by iTunes, it adds a bookmarks when the files are added so that they can be used the iTunes interface.

Audirvana is ideal if you want a Mac playing FLAC files as it doesn't need to go through iTunes.

You might try Audirvana Plus in lieu of Amarra and PureMusic. They have a free 15 day trial.

Awesome!

Or even better, ignore the analogue output and upsample/apodise standard rate 44/48 input to 88/96.

Suddenly a Mac mini with [insert player app of your choice] can do an even better job of feeding all those CDs without having to justify running a MC200 in parallel.

Sounds like it will need to be a different product though. Perhaps the "Discovery"?

Yeah, I'd pay for one of those with a digi-coax out!

I liked Audirvana, sound wise, slightly better than the other Mac options when I trialled them all with some USB DAC earlier last year.
