Dan, what sound enhancement technologies(from the advert) are involved?

I just posted a review of the Explorer here. Very nice review. I'll have one tomorrow morning. Looking forward to trying it out.

The review is excellent, and having recently auditioned the Meitner DAC in MA-2, IMO if the Meridian Explorer is anywhere close this product is a winner. Hector

Does the Explorer play 24/192 files at this resolution? I believe it does, for $300.
What say you Sooloos owners about this? Our multi thousand dollar system gets down sampled...
I hope there is a firmware upgrade coming to give us at least 24/192 and hopefully higher native resolutions and I hope it's not a hardware upgrade...
Actually maybe I hope the Explorer info is wrong and it just down samples like the rest of the M gear so I don't have to think about not having full resolution!

I'm pretty confident the 861v8 and 818v2 will not downsample in second half (after the big Sooloos patch this spring). It's my between the lines interpretation or maybe wishful thinking
DSP8000SE, DSP7200SEHC, DSP5200SE sides, DSP7200SE rears, 861v8, 210, Sim2 Ultranero 4, Stewart Cinecurve 2.35:1, XEIT CM-5E Anamorphic lens, Dune HD Duo Cinema 8K and Wireworld Platinum 48G HDMI -> UHD722 -> Shunyata Omega Ethernet. Shunyata/Furutech power-cables/filters. SR Master Fuse@861v8. Uptone Etherregen with 10MHz OCXO clock.

OK from Computer Audiophile " In addition to the 4x sample rate support via optical output Meridian will release a firmware image with enhanced DSP by disabling the digital output and reclaiming the processing power for an extra DSP stage with upsampling, an apodising filter and noise shaping" Awesome!

I can stream wirelessly to my portable from my MD600. If I plug an Explorer into my portable what sound quality could I expect? Would a network cable connection make any difference?

I think you will need a special cable to access the digital side of the iPhone = license fee= Apple profit. Not sure if there's one out yet.

Seems like a great product for 299$! And the internals really oozes come to papa! I was hoping for something more than the plastic 'fly but I didn't expect Meridian would answer the call. Well done Meridian!

That'll be the iPad camera kit probably. Whatever device that can allow a USB connection to it. If you have one it would be worth a try.
