Locating your MS600 well away from your amp is easier said than done in many systems, The appearance of the MS600 means that it clearly intended to stack with G Series components. As we all know that Meridian are "not stupid" (to quote RS) don't you think that they would be aware of any issues arising from this? If they aren't then they should take full note of this thread and experiment to build this sort of isolation into a product at this price point and thus achieve the revelation potentially possible.

Just wrote an impressive rant about mechanical isolation, but had second thoughts about posting & deleted it. What a pity to have deprived us of "an impressive rant"!

Well they have years ago and that is why I believe we saw a Townshend Seismic Sink Rack at HH 1.0 in one if the listening rooms where Bamford demoed. It does make a difference but it's not realistic to put this stuff into the products. Size and expense prohibits.

Yes, maybe I didn't express myself clearly.
If Meridian determined years ago that removing external mechanical vibration has a revelatory effect on sound quality they should by now have designed substantial immunity into their products. I didn't really mean build-in an isolation platform.
I'm not sure about the cost element. This gear is extremely expensive anyway. Would it really make a lot of difference to add vibration damping, improve wire dressing etc.
Alternatively, Meridian could just supply the external support "in the box" as part of their equipment and provide this performance improvement. It would probably be easier than spending huge amounts of time developing, for example, apodising filters.

Hi Malcolm, yes, indeed they could build such things into the units. I think this is what PSAudio are doing and, as usual, find the effect to be a revolution.

This was taken from another forum discussing a very similar thing. Vibration Enduced PM noise Way above my head by the way - I'm a chemist!

I think usually the benefit from these types of vibration isolation devices is noticeable but relatively minor. I must have had some sort of issue that made the impact bigger than normal. Most owners on this site seem to be very happy with the sound of their systems and don't need to worry about this stuff.

Far better to decouple the room, use earthed foil backed sound proofing as insulation etc. I had this issue with my 'phones when we had the house done in 2001. The main AV hub was sited on a wall in the cellar with the main electrical consumer unit mounted on the other side of the same wall. The wall is about 12 inches thick. When we first moved back in the 'phones had a nasty hum on the line. I stuck a couple of layers of roofing lead between the AV box and the wall, no joy. As soon as I earthed the lead the lines were crystal clear.
Sooloos, Roon, G series (with LPS upgrade), 800 series (with LPS upgrade), HD621, AC200, Prime and PS, DSPs old and new.
Purdeys, Moke, Leica, 'Blad. Only the best.

I'm not sure about the cost element. This gear is extremely expensive anyway. Would it really make a lot of difference to add vibration damping, improve wire dressing etc. Taking a look at the insides of MS600, I think its likely that the case cost about as much as the components in it. Nothing within the MS600 looks especially proprietary and little has been done to protect against RF/EMI interference. I think there are countless examples of high end audio manufactures punching out a product, to check a box. I believe there are several high end DVD players, based on Oppo players. I would call out the recent Meridian revelation it could do better with linear power supplies... after years of criticism about their switching supplies! I am not calling out Meridian here, as its part and parcel with luxury/highend audio manufactures. But I don't think price can be a gauge of engineering prowess.

Do you know who would sell these rf/emi blocking sheets? I'm sure they'd be WAY cheaper than the isolation platform. Here is the stuff that is marketed to "audiophiles": Stillpoints RF/EMI Then you can buy it in industrial application from Digikey. Digikey RF/EMI 3M products

Few high end audio manufacturers seem to be addressing the rf/emi and vibration, at least overtly in their marketing. Maybe they have incorporated it into their product design but choose not to focus on it in their marketing materials as some are skeptical. One manaufacturer that has been talking about rf/emi isolation for a while in their high end products is Marantz, who seem to take advantage of copper shielding inside their CD players: "The (SA-11S3) reference-player weighs in at almost 40 pounds with an all-new black anodized aluminum billet chassis copper lined chassis. A luxurious measure against radiated noise, copper-lining adds considerable mass for enhanced resonance damping as well. The players massive transformer has an additional copper shield to minimize signal interference."
