Will test for 5 days as well. My new "non-linear" PSU came today, to keep it original Meridian that ECM40 came back in. After 5 hours of use and sound I got two thumbs up from my wife on sound, stability of operation, etc., which tells me alot. I'm still reluctant and scared to believe I might have found the cure for my G68 smile (thanks to the forum of course and the endless PSU threads)

Notice the temperature marks of the transformer. Maybe a coil got bad on resistance ? Maybe normal after years, maybe a sign of a slow and tricky death.

Cheers, Andreas

It sounds like you have both had a good result.

To close this, my feedback is so far, the new PSU cured alot of problems on my side as well. No more hanging menus, no loud pops so far in the speakers (I did not like that at all, it gave me evil eyes somebody from Bollywood would say). Very nice response to IR, very good and stable operation.

Hovewer, some sound issues remain in my G68 analogue setup. When the unit is freshly booted and cold I get liquid sound, very precise center phantom image that I can grab with my hands between my studio coaxial monitors (they never lie to me).

With the time (minutes to an hour) the sound gets harsher, mid range and phantom image fades away, the smile on my face as well.

I will further investigate from power caps to new cards. Once I have the cure, I will respond in another post. Looking at the PCI tuner-card slot of my G68ADV being resoldered by Meridian or pre-owner / service, I have some ideas I can think off and some I wish they will not become true smile Till then.

Cheers, Andreas
