I don't know what that means. I just thought it was odd that there were no G series on display. They had the new speakers, some 800 series, MC200, MS200, M6, and 5000 series speakers. I don't recall anything else. Maybe they just couldn't be bothered to drag it in?

I was told the hold-up right now is (lack of) business/legal approval. Legal approval for FLAC 5.1/7.1 not needed. Legal approval for ripping DVDA or SACD 5.1 to Sooloos storage, needed. Should I understand it like this? I think I want to.

Are you going to buy the review sample? Why would you think that? I have rejected a few powered speakers because they are a constraint for me in reviewing amps and passive speakers.

Just watching the video of the 7200 demo and Bob Stuart says This is about to play 192/24 (2.51 through the video). I guess it's down sampled. Out of interest, if M believe 192/24 files can sound worse than 96/24, why use it in a demo? I guess because it was handy.

Should I understand it like this? I think I want to. Let me day dream and add one more level. If your adding 5.1 and your adding DVDA, SACD and high data/bandwidth tech with highly encrypted data, why not go all the way? You have most of the infrastructure for video? Kaleidescape like tech seems to be the next "add on" for owning the high end media market!
Primary: MD600, MS200 (SpeakerLink to AES), Trinnov ST-2, Ayre V6-xe, Salk SS8 3x LRC. Secondary: MC600 (whole house). Zone one: 568.2, G57, MS200, Spatial Hologram M2SE. Zone 2-6 (Awaiting assignment).

It would be rather nice in 2013 if Meridian's flagship processors could play bitstream HD audio from KScape's BD players ... which don't decode to PCM if I remember correctly.
If Kscape becomes a BD/downloading play (no DVD's in the future if they lose the appeal and currently only 1 studio participating) it remains to be seen if they can sell enough HW/rent enough films to be profitable.
Due to their DVD lawsuit history, they probably can't move upscale and sell their tech to the Hollywood director set, which is kind of a shame as their IP seems top notch. (There are several startups that are aiming for super-high end 4K download only solutions.)
Companies can spend a lot of $/ on lawyers, lawsuits, engineering time on appeasing the studios and end up not making much money on non-core products.
IMHO, M-Audio is spending its scarce engineering resources on stuff they have a history on (2 channel audio like 818/808 and multichannel 861v8) and DSP speakers. Keep improving the audio quality (like the latest 818 upgrade?) (also maybe by keeping the HDMI video signal far away from the audio processors) and the sales will keep coming.
Primary: 818v3+ID41, M6 stereo pair, M SpeakerLink cabling, Sonos+96kHz Cullen, silver DSW HT: Marantz prepro, 271, DSP3300, 8K SE FL/FR pair, DSP M6x2, DSP320x4 (ceiling), black DSW, 520 RL/RR rear in-walls Living Room: G65, 640 L/R in-walls, UHD722, MS600 Vac. Home: G61, HD621, 4xDSP3100, DSP3100HC MDMS:NUC/ROCK+TrueNAS Core 12.0 ZFS file server

Just watching the video of the 7200 demoThanks for posting this. The demo is interesting insofar as it raises questions rather than answers them. If only there was more detail. But it does clearly show Meridian's preoccupation with time allignment, which has previously appeared in new firmware and iterations of the 808, 818 and 861. From this clip, it makes the new firmware at least as important as the new tweeters, which is something I had not realised before. And I am sure we will want to learn more about the new patent. It will be fascinating to hear the new speakers "live" or at least get further reports from owners. Perhaps Bristol will offer a further and more public outing. And when will these new initiatives be rolled out across the range? Would the benefits be even greater for the bass of the 8ks, given their greater complexity and extension compared with the 7k2.2s? And does anyone recognise the music that was played in the demo?
