Hi,
It just looks fantastic in black as well the 808.4 Anv.

Here is a small puzzel.
The DSP7200 manual says that TYPE setup should be:
Type Description
1 Standard setting for 2-channel system.
5 For use with a Meridian CD player (eg 808.2)
connected to the SpeakerLink input; all other
sources use the co-axial input.

So I turned off each DSP and pressed 5 on turned them back on.
Left DSP as Master Left RJ45 and Righet DSP as Slave RJ45.
Turned them off.
Pressed Clear on the MSR+ and gave a CD a try.
Left DSP showed Red and Yellow Light in the display and the right just Yellow. Woow Sinatra sounded 3D.

So I wanted to listen to the ID40 and Sooloos with the special ferrit Speakerlink cabel from Meridian (the ferrit core is placed nearest the switcher not the ID40 Card in the 808).

Strange pressed AUX - SLS came up in the display
BUT Left speaker was silent showing only Red light no Yellow, PCM NL and No sound. The Right DSP Showed Yellow and played sound.
Tried switching the cables.
Turning on the CD player again and everything was back to stereo and yellow lights.

Then I re-Typed to 1 and everything played in stereo both on SLS(AUX) and CD.

Go figure!

Hi PerS

No. 1 : let's see some photos!

No. 2: it possible that your issue with Type 5 is that IIRC the defaults settings for inputs are CD only for D1. All others are D2 so I THINK you need to reassign AUX/SLS from D2 to D1 (I think this is what I need to do when I use 818 direct into my 8000 fronts if I want to have 2 channel)

I can't be 100% sure as I am in your country (Stavanger) on business right now

Best

Andy

Hi PerS,

For TYPE 5 this behaviour is what I would expect.
CD Source
MASTER DSP input = RJ45
SLAVE DSP input = RJ45

All other Sources
MASTER DSP input = Coax
SLAVE DSP input = RJ45

So when you selected AUX [SLS] the master speaker switched to Coax and was silent, but the Slave Speaker was still on RJ45 and receiving input directly from your 808.4.

I think this is a hang up from when using daisy-chained DSP pairs (where the Slave would always use D1 input) and not home run with each DSP connecting back to the processor/controller with SpeakerLink.

Unless you want to connect an addition source to the DSPs Coax inputs then TYPE 1 (configured for RJ45) is what you need.

Regards,
Carl

Thanks as always Carl.
After a talk with Meridian I think It will be removed from next user manual update.

Just curious if you made any comparisons between the 808.4 and the MS600? If you did, could you share them?

Thanks!
