Hi, at Meridian's site there is an enquiry form to fill in if you want to contact Meridian. Trouble is that it is not working. I have tried with both Firefox and Google Chrome.

Does anyone know of a better way to contact Meridian? Best would of course be an email address. I have a question about replacing the laser in my 508.24. Not happy that they don�t have any replacement lasers and want to ask them about that.

Welcome to the forum. For a few years now, Meridian have had a policy of non contact with end users; all queries have to be directed via Meridian dealers. If you do not have a dealer available locally, there are helpful dealers who contribute to this forum e.g. Rick at Audioimages.

Thanks George for your quick and kind answer. Well, I talked with Ljudtema, that is the general agent for Sweden, and they could not help.

So the Enquiry Form is only for dealers? Strange, because they don�t say that on the site. I really thought it just was a technical problem with the enquiry. I really want to know why they don�t a replacement laser to sell. It such a fine player and it is such waste not being able to use it.

508.24 laser supplies have been dropping fast over the years but they are still available.

I offer service for these players if you are interested. I understand if you don't want to send the player that distance. Just wanted to offer it to you anyway.

Thanks for the offer Chris. Very kind of you. But I hope to find a solution here in Sweden. I found a laser on eBay and think I can arrange with someone around here to mount it.

Please take care with lasers offered on e-bay. They are often advertised incorrectly and may not be what you require. They are also often recovered items that may or may not work. Chris JC can give you chapter and verse on this subject he may still be your best bet in this situation.

I know it�s a jungle out there. But I found this outlet on eBay NEW OPTICAL LASER LENS PICKUP for MERIDIAN 508.24 that seems okay.
What do you think?

Per there is no description what so ever on that laser.

I am a sceptic on this subject as from personal experience I was conned. No big loss but the part offered as direct replacement for existing Meridian version was not compatible. The part was ordered from a supposedly reputable UK company but was delivered from the far east.

As my investment on eBay was very low I did not pursue the matter.

You really do need complete images of the offered device (I do not see these on your link) to be sure that it is identical to the M installed component.

Please engage with Chris (ex Meridian) for the best advice.

I contacted Meridian yesterday to ask about replacement drives for my G91 and I too had trouble with the contact facility. In my case, it turned out it didn't like "/" in the enquiry text. Removed that, all fine.

I think it's a great pity how Meridian have changed over the years, a vastly reduced product set and support (even firmware) only through dealers who may or may not be pleased to help if you didn't buy from them and/or are not interested in new product.

I assume they have done all of this to survive, but it doesn't encourage brand loyalty.

If you need to contact Meridian direct, go through your premium dealer to open the line of communication. Once open, you should get the assistance you need from the people best placed to give it. The Meridian of old still seem to be there, but the Premium Partners seem to act as gate keepers.
