Hi,

The incandescent power indicator lamp on one of my M2 active speakers has gone out. But I can't seem to find any instructions on how the lamp can be replaced. I have tried to pull the lamp outwards, but fear I may break the lamp or any cables behind the lamp socket.

Would anyone know how I can replace the incandescent lamp correctly & safely, as intended by Meridian.

In the absence of any replies, I will try to help.

The bulb cannot be removed from the front. You will need to remove the perimeter screws holding the back panel which is heavy; a steel back plate with all boards and power supplies mounted on it.

You will need to separate the umbilical connectors. Look at the images on Duncans info site.

If you are fortunate, to may be able to see how the bulb can be removed possibly with more dis-assembly

You can remove the amp panel if you like

Or you can do this: remove the front grille, then using a pair of tweezers, pull out the plastic tube from around the bulb. Push the bayonet bulb in, twist & replace, easy DIY job done in 30 seconds.

Bulb required: 24v 1w mini bayonet (eBay).

Then remove the rear amp panel & replace the 6x 100uf caps, reset the DC offset (pot hidden under the xover), reassemble & settle down for another 20+ years of listening pleasure

I've already replaced all of the electrolytic caps and op-amps in the M2s. Thank you for the advice on the bulb removal, I've replaced that too.

The system, including the DAC and M2s, sounds remarkable. absolutely no critique.

Although I never play the system loudly, it's surprising how loud musical passages can be played with virtually no distortion or colouration from the M2s.

Mostly, I play lossless audio and, sometimes, HD movies through a projector.

My nine year old dominates the system, but lucky for me, her musical tastes are similar to mine.

It may not be the latest or greatest high end system, but on my tight budget, I couldn't have done any better.

I will eventually upgrade to a DSP based system, but not yet.
