Can you describe the topology of your network, eg is it just a simple broadband router with everything connected or something all together more exotic!
The Meridian 818 and MD600 are connected to a switch that also serves to the PWD MKII but is otherwise dedicated to Sooloos. This switch is again connected to another switch that connects all the computers and that switch is again connected to the main router (and wifi unit) that connects to the broadband cable modem.
The main router also connects 2 other rooms, one of which houses the MS600.
There are also two video streamers and a network printer connected to other switches, but that's all far away from the Sooloos stuff.
incidentally: I made sure to assign static IP adresses where possible, because I sometimes have trouble with iPads/iPhones and guest's computers taking IP adresses that my equipment likes;-) This has never given any problems with Sooloos. (except now with the Mac, but that's not network-related, I think...)
Hope this helps...

Thanks for the reply, is it possible for you to temporarily connect all your Sooloos equipment to one switch, and connect that switch directly to your router, then connect the mac to that same switch, then try the control mac install, hopefully you will have success, by the way are the switches you use managed or unmanaged?
Looking at the kernel error message you're getting, I suspect the issue is one of compatibility with the MacOS version you're on, rather than a network error. If I'm reading the thread correctly, you can download the Control:Mac installer OK, but the installation crashes each time?
If so, it may be necessary to upgrade your Mac to a later version of the OS - I suspect that Control:Mac has a dependency on a later code library than Snow Leopard has ... in which case an upgrade will be the only way to resolve the issue.

Hi Kent As I mentioned in an earlier post, I currently have Control Mac (v394) running successfully on OSX 10.6.8, as well as a few other versions of OSX
I'm sure if I tried it on a few other versions of 10.6, it would still work successfully
SOme kind of a Network Issue or Restriction is preventing SooloosHelper and SyncCompanion from installing........which means C-Mac won't connect to the Core
Following advice in this thread I launched control mac then looked at the activity monitor and found three Sooloos helper files and three sync companion.
There is a fault in that Control:Mac does not close the SooloosHelper and SyncCompanion Processes even after you shut Control:Mac down and sometimes these even use up Processor Cycles!
When you re-start Control:Mac, it sometimes opens newer versions of these Processes, leading to what you see.
However, this usually does not appear to cause any User Issues." and most Users are unaware that this is happening!!
Personally, I use "Quit Process" in Activity Monitor to quit these Processes but only I prefer to do that, it's likely not necessary, as most here are not doing it and don't have issues!
Thanks for the advice. I quit all the open solos helper and sync companion files and relaunched control mac and as you suggested nothing changed but at least I learned something. It's a puzzle that I suspect has something to do with my BTHomehub router

Hi Russ, thanks for the advice. I followed it, but get exactly the same results as before. the switches are unmanaged but the router is. But I don't think it's the network that is giving problems.

Hi Kent, Ronnie is right: the two processes simply don't seem to initiate. However, I see no harm in upgrading to a newer version OSX. Perhaps I have damaged the system unknowingly and who knows, installing an update might bring it right back up to scratch, just like installing Explorer on Windows can solve all kinds of problems:-)
btw: totally wrong place to bring this up I know, but tomorrow is the Apple announcement: according to the rumours we're getting iPad mini and new iMacs, amongst other rumoured updates.

Do you have any anti virus sw or any third party security sw running or is literally only running sw it came with? Have you tried looking at the Mac log files relating to the time you try the install of Control Mac?
I don't have any anti-virus software on any of the switches or routers, but also just carried out a simple test by connecting the MD600, 818 and macbook to the same single switch and disconnected the wifi. Same result. I did look at the logs but can't make much of them. I looked up some of it and according to the articles I found, this points to faults in the code. But I think that there may be something with my Macbook, even if it only crops up in combination with Sooloos...
I will now go and look what an upgrade for the software will cost me:-(
